Appalachian State how good will they be?

Submitted by 991GT3 on

Was curious as to what to expect when we play AS on August 30th. Though the article is dated (February 2014) it does provide some insight about the team. One thing for certain they will be experienced and will have one of the most experienced OL in the country. Michigan will need to pay attention.

Yes, I know.  That's why I said "came from 1AA", which is where they were and what it was called when . . . I don't remember what exactly, it's kind of repressed.  I think something bad happened.  I think we only won by a touchdown or two and were demoted from AP #5 to AP #9.  Something really bad like that.

starters and will perform competently. But if our o line can't move their D upfield. . . I'm an old fourth-generation UM lifer, but I will be more easily persuaded to miss a few games this fall.

Michigan has been straight up cursed since THE HORROR. No doubt about it. This will be the game to reverse the curse, THE REDEMPTIONING (tm). That's the only logical explanation for this game. We will take the game seriously, and we will win. Hopefully UM will look like they did against CMU and ND last year, and not like any of the games after those games.

They are suppose to suck and hopefully will oblige.  But probably moreso than other games that looked mismatched on paper - the longer they stay in the game the more confidence they will have for obvious reasons and the tighter our guys will become.

I can only imagine how much pressue our guys are going to be feeling heading into the game.  Having about a million people remind you daily 'DON'T FUCK THIS UP WHATEVER YOU DO" cannot be easy.

If UM doesn't win this game by 4+ TD's I will be dissappointed. I would accept a closer margin if the starters are out by halftime. I want Brady to post a big number because this team needs to hit the ground running and make a statement right away.

Who cares? No matter how realistically good they may be, there's no excuse for UM struggling against them. Unless they're good enough to make a BCS bowl, then UM should plow them if UM really is as good as we hope. Arguing on how good App St pre-season seems to be set up for rationalization on how UM isn't "that bad" if UM struggles.

I would love to see a soulless workman like beat down. No high fives/sack celebrations/TD jumping chest bumps(Barry Sanders celebrations all around), just 300 yards on the ground with a healthy dose of backups carrying a shutout into the fourth. A game where most of the non fans tune out because there will be no upset and no rejoicing. Get on the hate week 1.... BEAT THE FIGTHINGS!

I'll be happy. I'm surrounded by state and osu fans at the office and all I keep hearing is "what if they lose to app st.?" Can't wait for it to end!!!

the worst opponent to set foot in Michigan Stadium since Deleware State.  Its a meaningless stupid "revenge" game for an AD with a massive ego, he and few dozen other people with the same type of ego affliction will be the only ones enjoying it.

by 50, we still lost because the 2007 loss will be brought up in every highlight.

This the PR equivalent of the makers of Tylenol introducing a new product by reminding people their products were once laced with cyanide.

it's a no win situation (from a pr standpoint) and the entire game well be highlights of 07. So, if we play them again I guess you have to curb them if possible. I'm talking Hail Mary, up by 50 with 3 seconds left. Even that doesn't change 07. This reschedule is a no win anywhere but the field but think about if we lose again.....fuuuuuuuu

Not one CBS analyst picked them above 7th in the sun Belt Conference and some or most had them between 8-10. Their number one rusher is also out, That will make for a very tough task against a stacked UM defense. The horror will not happen again. Michigan 49 App St 3!

There's a poster on another site that post screen shot's of the first App game and I would like to follow him around and post a Yost like score after him.

48-12, Michigan.

Appy State hangs around for much of the first half, say 14-6, and makes everyone uncomfortable.  Michigan will score again before halftime, but still nobody is at ease with what is still a two-score game.  Michigan scores a bunch in the second half to secure a big win, but it will still feel like it was overall a pretty ugly and unsatisfying win.  There will definitely be room to grow.

Michigan will win handily. I worry more about ND being a letdown because I envision the team being really fired up for App State and trying to rid the history books of the horror.
