I'm not sure this is the best time to go pro, coming off of a year off with an injury and with questions about his passing ability. Better for him if he comes back to school next year.
August 19th, 2014 at 1:43 PM ^
I'm sure this Barrett guy will be just fine and urbz will want to continue to roll with him. It's not like they don't have talent.... But like Michigan a ton of the talent is young. Thanks to the schedule ohio will escape the season with no more than four losses. Not a good year, but also not a tire fire.

Good. Now they will feel some pain as we have recently. Their fans deserve nothing else.

I noticed some people saying stuff like, "Oh don't worry, JT Barrett will be fine. I think he might be further along compared to when Braxton was in his second year."

I dunno about that. Kenny Guiton (a 2-3* out of high school) came in and looked like a Heisman contender last year. Urban has a good system. They might still be fine with Barrett

11W is down. Meltdown in full swing.

He'll get a medical redshirt, right?

I was thinking along the same lines. He would be a 3rd-4th round QB selection at best. He could probably obtain the same mid-round status as an athlete assuming he heals well. Why would he come back for another year and risk being injured again?
August 19th, 2014 at 1:11 PM ^
... in hell Braxton Miller is a third or fourth round pro QB after missing his entire senior year with a serious injury on his throwing arm. No way. Zero.
EDIT: Who knows, maybe I'm overestimating the GM community intelligence. Cleveland may draft him.
August 19th, 2014 at 1:13 PM ^
I agree no way he'd be a pro QB, but someone would draft him as a RB, kick returner, slot guy.
August 19th, 2014 at 1:23 PM ^
August 19th, 2014 at 12:58 PM ^
I'm sure he'd be eligible, but if I were him I'd bolt for the draft (assuming he is fully recovered by the time of the Combine and he gets a decent - 5th round or higher - draft grade). No need to jeopardize his future earnings any further.
August 19th, 2014 at 1:01 PM ^
Braxton never took a redshirt so he doesnt need a medical redshirt...very different, if he chooses to return he will
August 19th, 2014 at 1:17 PM ^
I said yesterday that I can't see why he would risk coming back to college in 2015. The smart move would be to declare, but sometimes kids never want to leave college.
August 19th, 2014 at 1:21 PM ^
He never redshirted, so he can just take his normal redshirt and won't need to deal with the NCAA approval process.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
This still isn't official.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
How is that tweet time stamped 4:16pm? Is Gil Brandt a time lord?
August 19th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
It says 2:16pm on my screen. Fucking wizards.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:52 PM ^
Was told Ohio State expecting Braxton Miller to miss entire season. Release expected later today. Big blow for that team.

Why is it different on my computer? Is my computer a time lord?
August 19th, 2014 at 12:57 PM ^
Each time I click on the link I get a different time - I've seen 11:16, 4:16, and 6:16 thus far. Just a "feature" I guess.
August 19th, 2014 at 1:00 PM ^
Haha, I like the idea that there is a "feature" that is just that the time stamp is meaningless and changes arbitrarily.
Just to verify that I am not in fact crazy, and that this is some crazy Whovian nonsense.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
On 11 Warriors, they are reporting that Miller dislocated his shoulder yesterday...just popped out. Coming on top of his labrum surgery in February, it's not a good sign.
Really feel sorry for the guy...he played his heart out for OSU and he is one of the better players in the B1G. Here's hoping he recovers and is back to his old form next year, except when he plays us, of course.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:56 PM ^
he would choose to go Pro. He'll be 22 in November, 23 already in someone's Fall NFL camp. I would go pro if I were him - but I'm not. :P
August 19th, 2014 at 2:36 PM ^
If I were him, I would have gone pro after last season. I don't know if his stock could have improved much this season, and in a sport where your maximum career is 10-12 years - and more likely 3-5 years - every year of earning power matters.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:51 PM ^
Feel bad for the kid, he seems like a decent guy, for a Buckeye.

Hoping he has a speedy recovery.
That said, the B1G East just got a lot more interesting.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:53 PM ^
So an NFL.com guy got this out before all the other people who cover college football. He must have some contacts within OSU.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:55 PM ^
he's been around forever.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:55 PM ^
I find it rather amusing that these guys always feel the need to add their own little bit in there "big blow for that team"
No. shit.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:55 PM ^
That really is a shame. He's a great athlete and seems like a very good guy.
I really hate to see news like that for any young man.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:56 PM ^
Sucks for him. Again, I don't wish injuries.
They're definitely going to lose some games due to this.
I was optimistic about The Game this year based off of what Michigan has done the last 3 years against them. Now, I'm really optimistic.
No Hyde or Braxton. Those two guys are the reason Michigan hasn't won 2 of the last 3 and possibly 3 in a row against them.
August 19th, 2014 at 12:57 PM ^
Feel bad for Braxton Miller who seems reasonable (for an Ohio State player)
Feel good to watch Ohio fans twist in the wind of their own speculation on 11W
August 19th, 2014 at 12:58 PM ^
August 19th, 2014 at 1:12 PM ^
I agree ... I never felt dislike for Miller personally. I always thought he seemed a good young man and a very good football player.
What I liked was the way he seemed to mature and improve as a QB year to year. He was getting scary-good at resisting the urge to run, and to become more of a finesse passer. Lots of really athletic QBs never make the transition, but Miller was one who seemed to be making great strides in that direction.
August 19th, 2014 at 1:00 PM ^
I feel bad for the man - but not the coach/team/fans/university/coolers.
August 19th, 2014 at 1:02 PM ^
there is an official press release or press conference from ohio state. Dude goes into an ambulance one week, plays the next.
