Daelin Hayes transferring to California high school
I think his commitment is pretty firm with the Trojans. Wonder if this was planned before he chose USC? St. Mary's team just took a hit for the next two years.

It always frustrated me how USC could just causually roll up and snatch prime-time players away from the Midwest, despite coaches of other programs having made much deeper relationships in recruiting this region over time.

i'm frustrated too, but how are you gonna compete with this for a high schooler's attention??

Yeah, because USC is the only school with hot girls. He is going to be a football player at a big time college football program...I do not think it will be hard for him to hook up with hot girls no matter where he goes. There are hot co-eds at every big school

Touche. Nothing wrong with nice eye candy walking to class every day.

Not just USC man, but all of LA. There is so much talent in LA that incredibly hot women are actually far more approachable there than anywhere else in the world because with all of the other talent around them, they don't feel "special."
August 13th, 2014 at 7:43 PM ^
Girls just as hot, better campus, and better location.
August 13th, 2014 at 7:50 PM ^
Girls are not as hot at UCLA. We might me splitting hairs since all CA schools have hotter girls than almost anywhere else, but I will disagree with this one. And the campus/location stuff is debateable. I like USC's campus better than UCLA's - much prettier with far more history.
Is UCLA's in a better location? I guess, it's in a super ritzy part of town, so I guess that's a good thing, but it's not exactly an exciting part of town for a college kid. UCLA's campus just doesn't feel like a college campus to me. I've got two kids I'm raising in LA, and I'd prefer them to go to USC than UCLA, cost aside of course.

It seems so easy for USC to come to the midwest and take a 4/5* away but it seems so hard for Michigan and Ohio State to land primetime Californians. Notre Dame gets one basically every year - which surprises me somewhat.
August 13th, 2014 at 5:19 PM ^
It's the USC and Stanford rivalries perhaps.

I've actually always been much more frustrated by USC grabbing elite in-state players than if they go to OSU or Notre Dame, for example. I have this picture of them driving recruits from here down Sunset Blvd. in a convertible with a couple of the cheerleaders above and bags of cocaine and cash in the backseat. Of course that's just absurd I know.
August 13th, 2014 at 5:00 PM ^
That is absurd, one bag of cocaine is more than enough...

Any time you hear about a kid switching schools to one much closer to a school that just offered or he committed to should make you think some shady shit is going down. Unlikely the NCAA does anything since they haven't even taken a look at any programs recently but it's improbable that some strings weren't pulled that wouldn't have been for just anyone.

But you're taking it as if someone is making a dig at USC, when these same comments would be made regardless of which school was involved. I do think it looks a little suspect when a recruit moves from a place of extremely low cost of living to one with quite high cost of living shortly after committing to play football there. I'm not saying I think foul play is involved, but you have to admit it raises some eyebrows.
Is it possible the Hayes family has always been able to afford Southern California but chose Detroit for other reasons? Of course, it happens all the time. But you have to admit it can seem shady, even if it isn't.
As an aside, I've never met someone who is such a fan of both Michigan and USC. All of the SC people I know out here hate Michigan, you'd think we were the ones always beating up on them. The only SC alums I know who are cool with Michigan are the ones who aren't big football fans.
