ED-Seth: Welcome to our Bar Finder Sticky. The user community has kept this going since 2009 to help MGoBloggers find UM-friendly sites for their suds consumption.

We also got a big boost in curation in 2016 from our sponsors, the...

THE ORIGINAL POST:

A couple weeks ago, I put together a google map with all of the Michigan bars I'm aware of (and also everything from the spreadsheet that bouje has been maintaining.) The map is here.

Hopefully this will prevent the "where's the Michigan bar in Pittsburgh/Fresno/Topeka/wherever" threads that pop up every week, but if your favorite gameday hangout isn't on here, put it in the thread and let me know.  I'll do my best to keep the map up to date.

JLo - just to update the NYC club added Brother Jimmy’s Union Square (116 E. 16th St) for the past  2010 season and expects it to be an official watch party spot going forward, along with Professor Thom's which you have mapped.  Metro53 can be removed.

Blackfinn in Royal Oak is an MSU bar.  It's terrible to watch a game there.  If the MSU game and the U of M game are on at the same time, MSU gets audio.  If Michigan is on alone, they will openly boo, heckle and annoy.  Fun bar, just not for a gameday!

AJ Gators on Holland Road in Virginia Beach, VA is a great College Football Bar that is very Michigan friendly.

I have been going there for about 9 years, so the owner gives me (and now all U of M fans) preference and will put the game on one of the three big screens up front if it is asked for.  Getting sound for the game is about 50/50.  On average I would say there are 15-30 Michigan Fans at each game, even more if the game is on the B10 Network.

There are no official college team clubs or associations at this bar, but the BIG-10 presence is huge.  You will see many Buckeyes in the bar, but the atmosphere is friendly with good natured ribbing.  For MI-OSU game, the owner will kick you out if you get out of hand and go beyond playful ribbing and make the game ugly for those trying to enjoy.

Hope to see you there.  GO BLUE!!!

I'm living in Columbus now...it sucks.  Anybody know of a UM friendly bar to catch the games at? The google map only shows Dave and Busters and I'm hoping that there is another venue to catch the games with some UM fans.

Last weekend, I went to a UM Football Kickoff party at Jack's, a new official UM bar in the Lincoln Park neighborhood of Chicago.  Decent food, very cool beer garden with TVs.  Not sure what their gameday drink specials will be.  Address?  Address:

2856 N. Southport Ave.

Chicago, IL 60657

Also, Cans in Bucktown is also now an offical UM bar.  Big place, lots of TVs.

Please add Jack's, 2856 N. Southport, Chicago, IL 60657.  It is one of the official alumni bars in Chicago this season.  Thanks.

Also, please be advised that Mad River has defected and is now an MSU Bar.  So please remove Mad River as an Illinois location and let us never speak of that establishment again!

I recently moved to NH a few weeks ago, looking for Michigan friendly places around Concord, Manchester and or Nashua, NH. I see that The Barley House is one, but is it only for the ND game? If anyone has any help, let me know.

I hadn't been in this thread for a while, so the map was a bit out-of-date.  I think I've got everything updated now.  If anyone knows of any other places, or sees info on the map that's incorrect, let me know and I'll fix it.

I saw Ropewalk Tavern was removed in Baltimore.  Is there a reason?  I just got out to Baltimore and have been there once before a baseball game and was hoping to head there for football, but I don't see it on the list anymore.

I'm going to be there for a wedding the weekend of the Eastern Michigan game?  Anybody know where I could watch it at 11 am CT on Big Ten Network with volume?  Good news is the Gophers aren't playing at the same time, to the extent that matters.

Hey, I'm with the Solar Car Team at UofM, we are all in Australia and looking to catch the game here.  The wifi speeds at the hostel have rendered my Slingbox useless, so we are looking for any other options in or around Adelaide, South Australia.  Let me know if you know of anything!

Thanks, and Go Blue!

The Black Finn is no longer where folks are getting together to watch Michigan games in Cincinnati.  Unfortunately there is no set place right now.  The best option is to check out the Cincinnati Alumni page on facebook.  Folks have been active about marking down bars in Cincinnati there.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/17974451375/

JLo, perhaps you can just put the weblink on the marker in Cincinnati?

If you want a place to put down, I've found that Oakley Pub and Grill at 3924 Isabella Avenue, Cincinnati, OH always changes the channel to the Michigan game for me.  They hang a Michigan flag in the bar, but they also hang OSU and ND flags too...

In Memphis, the UM Spirit Club has our game watches every football Saturday at Dan McGuinness' Irish Pub & Grill at 4698 Spottswood Ave (near Poplar and Perkins area)  The Ohio State and Penn State clubs meet there, as well.

Inside the Hyatt hotel in Monterey there is a sports bar called Knuckles.  It opened before 9am.  They would serve drinks.  They would let you order breakfast from the breakfast place in the hotel and then at 11am their bar menu opened up for biz.  It was great.  tHey had a ton of TVs (mostly high def).  Also, we were joined by 6 other UM fans and a pair of PSU vs Indiana fans.  They had all the B1G games on.

For anyone living in downtown Orlando, check out Whiskey Dicks on Central (full address is listed below). Owner is a Mich grad from waaaaay back. His son is a huge fan and runs the day-to-day operations. You'll notice a full size winged helmet gracing the actual bar along with a hat signed by none other than Hoke. I don't make it there for every game, but I know that Mich is always on, and gets jumboscreen preference for any big games. For those of you in Florida, you know that knocking the Gators/Noles off the TV is no small feat.

Please add Dan McGuinness's Irish Pub on Spottswood as the Memphis Spirit Club site for watching UM football.  Every football Saturday is scheduled there.  OSU and PSU meet there, as well.

I'm a Michigan fan living in Columbus, Ohio...yeah don't ask why.

If there are any other UM fans living in this  unfortunate scarlet and gray area, let me know. I'd love to watch the games with people who are not as ridiculous and biased as most (all) OSU fans.
