Big House BBQ Open Thread

Submitted by MaximusBlue on
BBQ event officially started at 10am. Figured I'd get a thread going where everyone could post updates, tweets, info., comments, etc. regarding the BBQ. With Roseboro, Lewis, and Thompson attending along with a host of commits and prospects, a chance for a couple hello post today seems likely.

Not from anything said by others, but from posted quotes from father and son-- their choice of words and reading between the lines.  I guess if Dad says he's ready to accept his son's choice, whatever it is, we'll have to be too.

EDIT:  I could've sworn I refreshed this page before commenting.  But Turd got there first and said it better.

I've also heard that he was going to commit to MSU. I heard it on the radio station and I think the show is a homer MSU-type show, but I'm not sure. I'm sure MSU fans will try to spin it as a bigger get than Cole. If only people in the real world were that delusional.

Were there any organized event yesterday for these players?  It seems a lot were on campus Saturday.  What "events" were on yesterday or was it just informal hanging out.

Am I wrong to think that all this nepotism is unprecedented? Kids of former players, brothers of current ones....it seems like alot. Right now we have Gant, Runyan, Wangler, and in on Wheatley, Hayes, Ferns, Ross, Hill, Thompson, and more.

Christmas in July for poor, sad saps like me who enjoy recruiting way too much. But it's raining out so I have an excuse for being here instead of out side enjoying my Sunday afternoon. Phew, I am lucky.

Some of my black friends are always mean-mugging in pictures. And I'm standing there with a big grin, looking even more out of place. One time I asked my buddy why he never smiled, and he said, "gotta look hard in the pics." It seemed kind of weird, but then again nobody smiled in pictures/portraits back in the day, so maybe "non-smilers" think "smilers" are weird.

I think he wants to commit to Michigan with his dad there. Make it a family thing.

EDIT: About Thompson that is. Hopefully his dad does the right thing and doesn't let him go to MSU.

Parents should demand that the kids follow a process, be clear in what they value (with those not being outrageous, like "best party school") and measure and compare things correctly.  After that if the kid reaches a different decision than you that's the way it goest

People can disagree if they want but Im certain our deal with Adidas has cost us more than a few top recruits over the years. "Oh but I dont want a kid who pics his school based on the equipment brand," you say. Go ahead and tell yourself that. When your program is supplied by a secondary equipment provider, it dimishes the program's image.
