on another note: why are bbq joint names so possesive?

You are right!  That's like wet burritos and party stores, things I thought existed everywhere else until I moved out of Michigan.

One thing, though: there actually was a Meijer's Grocery Store or two when I was a kid in Grand Rapids.  But the possessive was dropped for the Thrifty Acres.

I don't recall saying KMarts, though I do remember saying Kroger's, Penny's, Meijer's, and Kresge's.  I knew a few people that worked at Ford, but none that worked at Ford's.  However, now that you mention it, were Ford a grocery or retail store, I might be inclinded to call it Ford's.

and I lived in SC before that, I'm a damn yankee.  Just ask anyone when I open my mouth to speak.  I return to Michigan to visit friends and family, they mock my "southern" accent.  I go to local HS football games wearing my Michigan shirt and hat, order a pop at the concession stand, turn around and shout, "Hey you guys" and I'm treated like royalty with mothers and fathers telling me all about so and so, and watch how this guy does this or that.  I don't know, maybe they think I'm a scout or something.  Who knows.

I went to an event a couple of weeks ago that featured food prepared by Slow's. It was possible to walk up to the table, close one's eyes and not make a bad choice. Just an amazing job all the way around.

That's a good question. I could see calling it Slow because you cook the brisket low 'n slow. But why the possessive Slow's?. Who IS Slow? Fortunately I know the Cooley family that owns it so I can ask them and report back here. Get right on it.

For those in need of some film to view on Marcus Lewis, his Hudl page is right here - LINK

His offers in the Big Ten include Michigan as well as MSU, Iowa, Ohio State, Penn State, Maryland, Indiana and Rutgers. Beyond the Big Ten, the list includes Oregon, Baylor, Boston College, Clemson, Florida State, Miami (YTM), Kentucky, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Syracuse, Tennessee, Virginia and perhaps a dozen others. It's an impressive and eclectic list of schools, to be sure.

And while these are HS players, he shows the ability to shed blocks and make plays.  Needs another 20 pounds or so.  I do wonder why coverage of deep routes wasn't included.  He claims a 4.38 forty so it wouldn't appear to be speed.  Interesting that he'll be a 19 year old freshman, he'll have a year of a physical maturity on most of his peers.
