Possibility for Fireworks after Miami (OH) and PSU Games
So two yeara ago this would be an awesome idea but because you are a sheep, you need to bash brandon over it?
Not sure fireworks would ever be an "awesome idea" at Michigan Stadium. A not-bad one, sure - but awesome? No.
In any case, some might say Brandon is the sheep for attempting to sterilize the Michigan gameday experience into one you could find at any given NFL stadium.
The fireworks after the Big Chill WERE awesome. Even the players from both teams hung around to watched.
Maybe we can get rid of big scoreboards too, since that's typical of an "NFL gameday."
Most want to pay players, isn't that a little like the NFL? College football is slipping fast and most are helping by supporting the players. They are 18 years old and have no idea why they voted for someone. Let's have them shape college football, because it needs help. ugh
Everything Dave Brandon does spits in the face of Michigan tradition. His flambouyance and pomp alienate the crowds who populate Michigan stadium.
I know that whenever someone calls the person opposing them a "sheep" that it gives their viewpoint instant credibility
So does that mean Miami of Ohio will be a night game or a weird 5:30 start? I'm not sure it will be dark enough in mid September around 7pm but I could be wrong.
Not unless the game goes into 10 overtimes. Yeah, I'm not understanding fireworks for the Miami-Ohio game. They're no fun if it's not dark enough. We don't set our clocks back until late October so it should still be pretty light out.
This struck me as odd about the whole thing, although I don't object to the idea of postgame fireworks at all. According to a couple sites I checked, you're still talking about a sunset of around 7:50 PM for September 13th, so the only way it seems to work is if this is a 5:30 PM game or something along those lines. So far, the official start for this game has not yet been announced, I think.
Post-game band performance ends around 7:30. Twenty minutes for fireworks set up. Then you have your 7:50PM start time for fireworks.
I have seen fireworks at a Tiger game right at sunset and it was not as impressive as when it's about 30 minutes after sunset. Maybe this will be a 4 or 4:30 start time. They have started games on the road at that odd of a time.
contest to be at night. It could be part of a halftime show with field level pyrotechnics as the game will likely be either a noon or 3:30 KO. There is also the very real possibility of using fireworks that burst into colored smoke for daylight use.
that we have any business ordering fireworks to display, after what we hope to be a victory, it would be the 1st game against Appa......well, nevermind
/s
Not a bad idea really.
The WOW Factor!
Well sign me up for season tickets. Those 70 emails didn't convince me. But fireworks?? for Miami of Ohio?!?!? That man is a genius.
If we're going to make Michigan football into an NFL game with worse athletes, at least sell beer and go all the way.
What time is the start time going to be? 530?
I don't mind it. It's the post-game version of a flyover. Most importantly, it has nothing to do with the game. Don't want to see it? You don't have to stay.
But at least now we can bash the students for not sticking around after the game. /s
There is the University of Miami and Miami University. Why do so many people insist on saying "Miami (OH)" or "Miami of Ohio?"
For the quick ease of letting people know who they're talking about. Do you say The Ohio State University and Pennsylvania State University too? Settle down.
Because there are LOTS of people who regularly confuse school names. I've seen Texas University or even michigan university.
No idea why you got so many downvotes.
But living here in Cincinnati and being surrounded by RedHawk alums ----- I can say they are all annoyed by the "Miami (OH)" moniker. It's "Miami" or "Miami University."
As they all like to say, when their school was founded the region where Miami is now was still controlled by the Spanish. So "the other Miami" should be the one with the 2 letter tag at the end!
thats a "Casino" brand watch
But seriously, what if they lose? Still fireworks?
As much as I like to jump on the "bash-Brandon-Bandwagon" I'm pretty ok with this...
As long as the fireworks are maize and blue.
No scarlett or green ones.
Carry on.
How are we ever going to survive this?
Personally, I don't mind the fireworks. But I hope the Athletic Department isn't doing this because they are THAT desperate to get people in the seats, there was a time when as long as football was being played, people were going to show.
But the fairweather fans have left and blamed pricing or Dave. Pricing has gone up worse during other periods, yet we forget.
Has it really?

The University of Gimmicks.
for the MGoIntelligensia to weigh in before bashing?
It couldn't get any worse or more pathetic!
Goddamn you, Dave.
Fireworks are terrible I won't look up out of protest.
Isn't it the worst? Imagine if the athletic department did something like bungle a sexual assault investigation! These fireworks are such a disgrace! Thank god the rest of the program, from the conduct of the players to the sterling on field success of the past few seasons, is excellent!
Don't really care. It's fireworks. This is coming from somebody who hates alternate uniforms and piped in music.
I'm only interested in getting out of there and get home after a night game.
This. I was exhausted after the Notre Dame game last year. Didn't get home until 3:00. Was at Pioneer until 2:00 AM
I hear John Mason from the Pistons will be doing the stadium announcing too!
Sponsored by the noodle.
At first, I thought this meant that Brandon was going up into the student section after the games to answer questions.
If fireworks make us mad, wait until the players strike when they disagree with their salaries.
There's at least thread one thread left on the board where you haven't made a stupid and completely irrelevant comment about player compensation. Better hurry up and get over there before it's too late for you to make an ass of yourself in front of everybody reading it.
I have a feeling if DB decided to donate millions to the athletic department like Ross did, people on here would still find a way to crap on him for it.
