Meh, not a big deal.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:44 PM ^
Imagine if our QB acted that way. ESPN would have the replay (not some dude who used his blackberry camera taping his TV).
It just shows the lack of discipline at ND under Weiss.

Looks like the BC player was trying to talk some trash or something so it's not really a big deal. What can you do?
October 26th, 2009 at 7:57 PM ^
In response to your question...I can hate Jimmah even more for this. (Even though I agree that the BC player was talking trash.)

the limp wrist as he runs away
"Oh, stop it, you!"
October 26th, 2009 at 8:25 PM ^
Actually, I'm kind of impressed. Jimmah showing that he won't listen to that noise! I'm all for players telling other guys who are running their mouths after they lost to be quiet. Plus, I doubt Clausen went up to the guy expecting to get into a verbal altercation, and he just walked away after he realized the guy wasn't going to move on.

was this trash talking or was the BC guy right in the middle of a post-game interview? i think that woman is holding a microphone? if so i wouldn't be suprised...
October 26th, 2009 at 8:43 PM ^
...courtesy of ESPN:
"In the beginning of the game, we were warming up, running on the field and [Clausen's] out there chirping and talking all this trash and he pushed, I think, Justin Jarvis. He just pushed him for no reason, and I just looked at him like, 'What are you doing? Who do you think you are?
"He's just sitting there still talking and then afterward, he was trying to be all friendly. I was like, 'I don't want to hear it now.'
"It just rubbed me the wrong way. I didn't like what he did. It just seemed like he was a little fake toward the end of the game because they won. I know if it was the other end of the stick, he'd probably be saying the same thing to me."
I can understand Gunnell's position although I don't know who comes out of that exchange looking better.
October 27th, 2009 at 3:33 PM ^
This was before the game? Wasn't it a 3:30 game? In the video clip it looks dark outside.
October 28th, 2009 at 7:19 PM ^
...but it resulted from what happened before kick-off.
October 26th, 2009 at 8:42 PM ^
At least he didn't punch him in the face LeGarrette Blount style.
October 26th, 2009 at 9:03 PM ^
that I buy that. After he was beaten on our field earlier in the year, he came over and shook Tate's hand. I think maybe the BC kid was just upset, and the fact that the whole thing went down while he was doing an interview is what makes Clausen look bad.
October 26th, 2009 at 10:37 PM ^
oh, puhleaze
October 26th, 2009 at 10:36 PM ^
So far this season i've seen the Emu be very respectful to both Tate and Matt Barkeley after the game. I haven't watched any of their other games. But after seeing those moments from Jimmah I don't imagine him talking crap to that kid. I'd be willing to bet that kid was talking some garbage and then Clausen decided it wasn't worth it. +1 to jimmah.
with that said I hope we beat ND by 50 next year.

Apparently Jimmy was running his mouth a bit during the USC game. I could see why a guy wouldn't want to shake his hand after the game if that is the case.

The limp-wristed shove isn't anything to be upset about, but he's still a douche.

golden tate goes pro cause he is ridiculous
October 26th, 2009 at 10:51 PM ^
With the talk of Jr's going pro this year due to potential $$$$ loss if rookie contracts pass, think Jimmy bails?
October 26th, 2009 at 11:34 PM ^
It's not so much that I hate Jimmah as it is just all of Notre Dame in general.

From the always interesting Dr. Saturday
http://rivals.yahoo.com/ncaa/football/blog/dr_saturday/post/Translating…
What did Gunnell say to draw Jimmy's ire? Dr. Saturday's expert lip-readers have narrowed down a few of the most likely options:
• "Ed Hardy is played, dog. Quote me."
• "I do say, sir, that was quite the spirited scrum! We would be oh so appreciative if you could accompany your mates to our scone-and-custard brunch."
• "Pull my finger."
• [Whispering]: "Just like we planned, just like we ... okay ... push!" [To reporters:] "Oh my god, I had no idea he was so strong!"
• "I don't want to be starting nothing, but Theismann told me Powlus was better."
• "No, you can be my wingman."
• "Yeah, I said it: Kate doesn't deserve John."
• "Have you ever considered the role that Dianetics can play in your life?"
• "Your roots are showing."
If Clausen declines, Rich, I'll accept his invitation to the custard brunch. Call me.
October 27th, 2009 at 12:15 AM ^
To me it looks like Clausen went up to the BC player to shake his hand. Then the BC player starts talking trash and starts pointing his finger in Clausen's face. I don't have a problem with what Clausen did after that.

Ditto.

1. I'd be pretty freakin' annoyed if this nonsense was pre-empting Jeopardy! where I live. I take that show very seriously.
2. About Jimmah's limp-wristed gestures: yes, they're stereotypically "gay." So what? Does that change the two most important things about him, a) that he's a decent QB with an NFL future who plays for a team we don't like or b) he's kind of a tool?
As an addendum to the above: I find it really, really hard to believe that there aren't gay players (or coaches) on ND, or Michigan, or any college or pro team out there. They may not be openly gay, but chances are pretty high that in almost any given group of 100+ men, there will be at least one gay dude (and he won't necessarily fit "fey" stereotypes, either). Making fun of this stuff is why no big-name gay player has come out in the NFL or NBA (I don't consider any of the ones who have to be household names).
Ugh, I'm inarticulate tonight. Negbang away.
