Brandstatter, Dierdorf, and Jansen - 2 members of "Those Who Stayed", 2 All-Pro's, a Hall of Famer/All Everything, one of the '97 Co-Captains, and all 3 were Michigan Linemen.

I couldn't help but hear Funk saying more words of "fix this" rather than "good job". But that's got to be expected for early spring/summer practice right? At least I'll hope. -Debbie downer

I didn't want to rain on anyone's parade, but yea...60% of this is old stuff just pieced together.

The Brandstatter/Dierdorf interview was new. The graduation speech was new. The Nussmeier interview was new. The Jansen interview was new. The Funk stuff was extended.

All the player interviews in the first half we cut ups of previous interviews - as were the highlights.

They put it all together and had Karsch be the on-screen talent for the production and in-between segments.

Nonetheless, it's football. I don't care if it's leftovers with BBQ sauce on it...we still finally got something to eat!

My guess is next week will be the exact same except it'll be defense instead of offense and they'll have some other segment similar to Devin's.

Canteen is FAST. Funchess is FAST.  The backs should be solid since we have so many guys to put in.  Basically, I am looking at you O-line

Speight has been talked about quite often regarding his recruiting efforts but I'm also impressed with how many players and especially recruits that say the are cool with Canteen. How he talks up the program and they respect his work ethic. For a young guy he seems to have a lot leadership qualities that obviously make him a favorite. Can't wait to see what he does on the field! It's gonna be a long two months.

Because 99% of that was fluff and rehashed material from spring ball...but what Jansen said was SPOT ON.

The parts about playing together and the entire unit being on the same page.

Last year, we consistently had 3-4 guys on the line do the right thing. But there was ALWAYS 1-2 that just completely f-ed up and it ruined everything. And the toughest part was, it was NEVER the same 1-2 guys.

I loved hearing about him talking about how they have a chance to make a name for themselves and how they all just need to communicate better. Get on the same page and if you mess up, it should be 5 guys messing up. When you succeed, it should be 5 guys. Everyone should be doing everything together.

Also interesting to hear him talk about how much is put in the Center position. Which makes sense because we haven't had a good run game since David Molk. He spoke like it's the most important position on the offense other than the QB. I'm exaggerating, but if that's the case, we need Glasgow/Miller/Kugler to step it up in a BIG way.

Everyone in the show was downplaying the OL (except Jansen)...and that's fine, but when you look at our roster, we may not be ELITE at every position, but every offensive position should be fine. The OL is the only unit with questions - so the attention is warranted.

Here's to hoping they get better and the playcalling puts them in positions to succeed.

almost scary the way the OL was given the "we'll keep plugging away" & "well, it's not just the OL" treatment. Jansen just said what was up. A big body is a big body and regardless of age we're trotting out guys that every college wanted. No excuse to be as bad as last year at UM. Ever. Inexcusable and in very kind/less words he stated as much. He put a positive spin on an obvious uncertain situation. Really felt an odd, already slightly excuse filled tone from the staff/some players.

For the OL to improve they need to play together for a season. I hope the coaches name 1st and 2nd team players during summer camp. Keep the unit playing together. Of course there could be injuries and the backups may have to play. But keep the core unit together for as long as possible. I think they will be playing much better together in November!

Not having a strongly set 1st team by your first game is a bad sign or shows many are seen as equal. In either case, find your guys and roll with them unless the lightbulb finally turns on for a 2nd during guy during the year and is clearly better for the unit. Pick your guys, let them gel along with their growing pains.
