USMNT vs. Portugal (In-Game) Thread

Submitted by Mr. Yost on

We had an in-game thread last week and we won.

Thought someone was going to start it, so I'll go ahead and give it a shot and hopefully we can turn our fortunes around.

I really know nothing about soccer. Saying that first, my perception is that the US team looks ok. One HUGE mess up, other than that, they have looked like the better team.

If I'm wrong, sorry, I'm at least trying to understand what makes this game so popular.

...but with this formation and lineup, I think Jones and Johnson really have to push up and be a factor offensively. Obviously that leaves massive holes on the back end, but that's where Bedoya and Zusi have to cover for them if they move foward.

Did anyone else watching ESPN coverage get a nice chuckle out of the dude dressed up as Teddy Roosevelt? I could see him cheering quite uproariously there too, from what I understand about the man.

Also, we need another one like that - left the goalie paralyzed, it seemed. Very beautiful goal indeed.

I know that's kind of "unAmerican" but Dempsey hasn't done much since the first 15 minutes.

Who are your other subs? Do we trust Yedlin? We've got Zusi and Bedoya on so we can't sub there...this is interested.
