I don't think there should be much antipathy on the team for Peppers's hype. Everyone on the team has something to prove, not just the incoming freshmen. Peppers has contributed to as many big wins at Michigan as pretty much everyone else on the roster.

Woodson didn't have a problem and he was hot shit. He got in a scuffle his first day at practice.

Want guys to respect you? Be good at football.

They respect that.

You suck and have the hype and no one takes you seriously.

Now I just want to get up there to Michigan and ball out and go as hard as I can so I can help the team win

The 12-year old in my almost 40-year old mind giggled at this.  Something is wrong with me.

In an interesting MGoTwist, it just so happens that my birthday is also on the 9th of July, but the difference in this case is that I will only achieve the non-milestone of 36 years of age on that day. Still, as far as my kids are concerned, that makes me anicent somehow - they don't believe me that there once was a time when mobile computing meant trying to do mental math while jogging or driving.

they are rare.

Most that remain are probably in people's basements. I remember, just before they totally disappeared they became a too common investment for people to own them and put them in different businesses. Of course we know where that investment went. I had a couple clients tell me they did this on a limited basis which was when i did the face palm.

or at least, that's what i tell my kids.   and i say when people get old they get crotchety (sp?) and they smell and i'm practicing real hard for that right now so i'll be prepared.

He seems to have a good awareness of the state of the program and actually his assement doesn't seem too far off from a post you'd read here. I do like the optimism and appreciate that he is willing to work hard. This team desperately needs an edge this season.

Very nice read.

The more of these entries that we see, the more I see that, in addition to being a phenomenal athlete, Peppers has an excellent perspective and what seems like a very calm, considered viewpoint as well, which makes me even more confident that we're getting someone that will do great things on and off the field.

ready for B10 football now.  Obviously, he will need to learn the techniques to be a top player at the college level.  But, Michigan simply needs to get him on the field early.  Like maize-blue said, we need an edge and a player like Peppers can give a team just that.  REALLY excited to see him on the field this fall.

The thing I like is this comes a day after Newsome's amazing tweet. It shows something about the quality of the people Michigan is bringing in. I think Peppers is going to help recruiting immediately because  he is well known and I think he will have a solid freshman season and represent himself well even if there may be some ups and downs. The talent is obvious. He may get burned because of inexperience occasionally but I think we will see some spetacular plays also.

I like this team more and more as you look at the direction the talent seems to be taking. They may still be a year away from competing with the big boys. I do think they will be an improving team this year and will represent themselves well.

I fully expect to see Jabrill bust some coverages...but be athletic enough that he still catches up and breaks up the play or makes the tackle. Then I will do by best police chief voice and say "Dammit Jabrill, you don't follow the rules. You're reckless out there!....but you're a damn fine cornerback"

No joke, I had a dream last night he ran the opening kickoff in the opener back for a TD.

OP was right. This did brighten my morning a little bit. I was worried he was going to walk on campus with a chip on his shoulder. He seems really in check with the the state of the program.

I like that he isn't going in expecting his HS dominance to just carry over. He seems to understand that he won't be 5* super recruit Jabrill Peppers anymore when he gets to campus, he'll be just another Freshman (ok, maybe not just another, but a Freshman nonetheless). I like that he realizes how hard he has to continue to work to still make the next step and that he's hardly accomplished anything yet. There's really no guarantee he'll live up to the hype, but that kind of attitude and maturity is a big step towards avoiding a let down as he starts his Michigan career.

I said this awhile ago...I see us going 11-1....last year's goofball team would go 8-4 with this year's easier schedule...Nuss will win one extra game, aggressive defense scheme will win one extra game and JABRILL PEPPERS will win one extra game....PRESTO...11-1!!! thanks Jabrill

Wow I hope you are right and everyone else is wrong, but...we play Notre Dame, State and Ohio on the road. And Penn State at home and Northwestern on the road will not be easy, and not just because of the O-line, witness last year's experience. 9-3 would beat most expectations and would be a very respectable outcome. 11-1 will require magic.

Hey quiverfull, thanks for the recommendations re: San Diego. We had a great time. And I remembered mgobrewmom talking about Societe brewery so I stopped by there one afternoon and had to be dragged out of the place. They make some fine IPA's and Belgians.

"I'm not trying to go in there to be the next Charles Woodson. It's a nice comparison, but, at the end of the day, that's Charles. That's one of the best college football players ever. I haven't done anything yet."

Just shows some strong self-awareness and humility, which I imagine can be tough for a kid who has been told he is superman for the last 4 years.
