Ian Bunting: Rapper

Submitted by Lucky Socks on

Continuing in the theme of Michigan athletes who seem to be musically inclined, future Michigan TE Ian Bunting has released a YouTube rap video (per TomVH).

My first reaction was "Oh no....#DatBull."  My second was "this isn't half-bad."  The only explicit content is two s-words, and one F-word so I don't think there will be any controversy here.  I do wonder if he screened it by the coaches before, or just trusted that it is harmless enough to post.

That's a lot of what ameteur rapping is.  Using a pre-existing beat, and changing your lyrics.  I guess they do take credit for the beat, but there are some tweaks from the original John Legend track.  They would certainly get sued if they tried to profit though.

I don't get it. He's singing under an overpass but there's no Dr. Pepper, no party and no Pitbull. Everyone knows that when you sing under a freeway, parties break out and Pitbull shows up. It's science.

Never liked his voice or rhymefest ghostwritten lyrics. He always had good beats though, the first two albums had really good production, but now his music just doesn't do it for me. It seems overproduced and trying to sound like death grips and el-p, but not really matching either.

Reasonable doubt is still the only Jay Z record that I can play front to back. I liked his work with dj premier too. The black album had some good songs but is no where near classic along with every other album he has done. I also couldn't put Kendrick Lamar or eminem in my top five. Em has supreme delivery, cadence, and skills, but a lot of his music just sounds cartoony and silly to me. Kendrick is really overrated to me. I heard all the hype about section 80 and his last album that was deemed a classic, but I gave both a couple spins and was less than impressed. I would put krs one, rakim, Big, Nas, kool g rap, guru, Mikah 9, black thought, pharoah monch, all above jay me or Kendrick.
