Reclaim the EDSBS Throne: 2014 Charity Drive this Week

Submitted by Rosey09 on

EDSBS announced their charity drive this morning (link) that Michigan fans have won in perpetuity. The charity this year is going to Refugee Resettlement and Immigration Services of Atlanta that helps folks get on their feet after moving to the US after getting uprooted in their home countries.

Relevant Michigan quotes:

WHAT'S IN THIS FOR ME?

Well, we ate cheese last year, so you can't make us do anything worse on a dare. The initial prize is this: whatever school wins gets the full road trip treatment from us no matter the winning total. Given Michigan's long streak of victories, this probably means a trip to Ann Arbor and the long-awaited trip to go to Zingerman's, pronounce it overrated, and then receive the beating of our lives from the hands of outraged Michiganders. Whatever: winner gets the full road trip anyway, even with the anticipated beatings.

MICHIGAN'S WON THIS THING LIKE EIGHT THOUSAND YEARS RUNNING, RIGHT?

Yes. But remember that a long losing streak never dissuaded a Michigan Man, and neither should it discourage you.

The streak must continue!

Speaking of streaks, I read today that after Texas was without a draft pick this year, Michigan and USC are tied for the longest streak of players being drafted.  Both schools have gone unbroken since 1939.

Gardner was getting lots of hype last summer after the Manning Passing Academy and before his ribs were crushed into 38,123 pieces behind that OL.

Jake Ryan and Frank Clark are seniors, those are probably the 3 most likely candidates unless someone blows up and leaves early.

I don't think any of those guys will be 1st rounders, but both Jake Ryan and Frank Clark should get drafted somewhere.  They aren't stars, but they're big athletic dudes who have been pretty productive.  Plus, they have 4 first names between then, which, damn.

Zingerman's is awful.

I've always assumed the love came from Michigan natives who never had the good fortune to experience good deli and east eoasters so desperate for a good deli they convinced themselves giant overpriced bread bowls were the answer.
