Sierra Romero wins B1G POY for 2nd straight year, Michigan cleans up B1G Softball awards
The B1G All-Conference & Awards were announced this week for Softball.
Once again, Romero took home B1G Player of the Year.
She was named first team All-B1G along with Lyndsey Doyle and Nicole Sappingfield.
Freshman Megan Betsa, Taylor Hasselbach, Lauren Sweet and Haylie Wagner were named to second team All-B1G.
Freshm Abby Ramirez and Nicole Sappingfield were named to the All-Defensive team.
1 seed Michigan will play the winner of today's iowa/illinois first round game in the B1G Tournament Quarterfinals tomorrow at 5:30pm in Evanston on BTN.
Here's hoping Romero doesn't forgoe her last two years at Michigan and jump to the ... Huh? What? There is no professional league? Nevermind... resume smiling and cackling with glee.
Romo will win four straight. Bank it.
She's definitely got a real chance at it. Honestly, I think she has a great case for National Player of the Year. Regular season batting champ, one of the few ever to hit over .500, and leads the NCAA in OBP by a wide margin. The only hits to her case are a few more errors than you want to see & the fact that she plays in the Big Ten. Obviously I'm biased, but I doubt there's a player (at least offensively) in the entire country who can top Romo's resume right now.
too bad we had to share the top reward, though.
We are the best school in the Big Ten and everyone is gunning for us. Even the non-revenue sports have to put up with the politics.
