Historic day for Michigan Lacrosse!
A very historical day for Michigan Lacrosse.
The ECAC Lacrosse League announced their All-Conference honors today. Kyle Jackson has been named to the First Team All-ECAC.
For some perspective, Michigan Football's first first team all-conference selection was Willie Heston in 1902.
Basketball's first was in 1947-48 with Pete Elliott.
Brad Lott was named to the All-ECAC Second Team becoming the first in that category, as well.
In addition, FOUR Wolverines, the most of any school in the league, were named to the All-Rookie Team. Ian King, Mikie Schlosser, Andrew Hatton & Robbie Zonino.
The future is now for Michigan Lacrosse. They have the opportunity of a lifetime this week. They win two games in a row, they're IN the NCAA Tournament.

The B1G's position in lacrosse is going to get a whole lot better in the not too distant future as Michigan becomes a force to be reckoned with and Maryland joins the conference.
What is the deal with Hopkins? I thought they were an "adjunct" member of the B1G in lacrosse or something like that, but what is the real scoop as to the whats and whens.
Hopkins will be an associate member for Men's Lax only
I would say maybe on that....the Ivy ought to be a strong contender there. It depends. I would take Maryland and Hopkins over Cornell and Penn, but I would also definitely take Harvard, Princeton, Yale, and Brown over PSU, OSU, Michigan, and Rutgers. Truthfully, I would expect any of those Ivy teams to beat any of those B1G teams except Brown against PSU and maybe - maybe - OSU. PSU and OSU just weren't very good this year and PSU in particular was a huge flop.
(Also, Maryland is the best team of that bunch but I'd say Hopkins should be favored over Cornell and Penn but by no means a sure bet to beat them.)
If you put a gun to my head, I'd rank the conferences ACC, Ivy, B1G. There just isn't the depth in the B1G yet, not with PSU and OSU sputtering.

It's from last year, but love that it says that the newly-formed Big Ten lacrosse league will "boast 56 national championships." Of course, 44 of those are from Hopkins, 11 from Maryland, and 1 from Rutgers.
The women's lacrosse league is much more balanced, with Maryland, Northwestern, and Penn State all having won multiple national championships.
Michigan has a great future in lacrosse but tomorrow belongs to my Fairfield Stags. Sorry guys. It's the one sport where we approach competency.
It's great to see news like this. I remember when we first transitioned from club to varsity and got absolutely flattened at every juncture. Pretty cool to see how healthy the program is, particularly given the league's latest additions.
I will literally explode with joy if we can win two in a row here. GO BLUE!!!
