Not surprised these fanbases have something in common.

Arrests made, couch fires in Lexington after Kentucky loss

Police in Lexington used tear gas to control rowdy fans and several couch fires were lit in the streets after Kentucky fell to Connecticut in the NCAA basketball championship final.

Government official Susan Straub, said at least 17 couch fires were lit overnight in the State Street area of Lexington and there were 18 injuries, most of them minor and treated at the scene. She confirmed seven arrests but had no further details in releasing a statement early Tuesday...

I just don't understand the whole couch burning thing.  When I get really angry, I have no desire to watch fabric slowly burn.

creeping me out a little now The Batman.  Can you confirm just once for me that you know you are not actually Batman?   After that this whole thing will be cool.

you can't blame us.  We didn't start the fire.  And that fire down below in Lexington looks pretty serious.  Let this be a lesson to you college kids - don't play with fire.  Seriously, though, how do we sit when our couches are burning?  I don't know, man...

First the couches get torched, next the school's AD trades in their familiar Blue and White colors for Baylor-like Green and Gold uniformz.

The part of me that works for a company that provides the thing which supplies what some students put through a window in Storrs is impressed. I mean, you would have to tug pretty hard to get the lugs and connectors in some of these installations to go  ....

If Derek was right and we're just cheering for a bunch of laundry then watching fabric slowly burn seems like an appropriate response. For those unaware of this reference please follow Ace on twitter

There has to be some form of social convention change that dictates only one of the teams fan bases is allowed to riot.  One team won, and the other lost. They should not get to have the same celebration!!!

Had Michigan won it all last year I have no doubt that Ann Arbor would've burned to the ground by the next morning. And this is all Kentucky has. They're the perennial SEC football doormat, so its hard for me to blame them.

A couple guys in my house burned a couch for the hell of it last summer in AA (trust me, it wasn't a popular decision). Can't say it was anything special and the firefighters sure don't come with smiles and presents.

The dream matchup of couch burning: Sparty vs WVU.  Incidentally, one of the more popular WVU fan blogs is called "We Must Ignite this Couch."  Honest.

Kentucky is the new Arizona which was the new West Virginia which was the new Michigan State.

But Sparty will always be the original.

We all burned a couch or three after the national championship game last year... Why? Because lighting stuff on fire (when absent of injury) is lots of fun. That's why.
