That pose is iconic - Bo taking the first stride toward the nearest ref. The headset has been ripped from his head; Jon Falk's admonition to stop throwing the headsets makes him keep it in his hand.
Am I the only one that isn't blown away by the pose that was chosen for the Bo statue?
How about the iconic arms crossed? The second angle in the OP is definitely better than the first, but it still just seems a little awkward to me.
That is Bo's "COME AT ME BRO!" stance. He's smiling because no one in there right mind would ever, "COME AT HIM." Look that's the best I've got. I am dissapointed in it as well.
I guess this proves the legends jerseys are here to stay. Not sure I'd put Jordan Kovacs and Courtney Avery in the same universe as the Wistert brothers though.
I like the renovations and idea of making the place more modern. I think the footballs from every win is tacky though.
but the first thing I thought of was a wall in every fraternity house on every campus full of beer cans.
Am I the only one worried that our spartan and buckeye "friends" will try to paint Bo? If I had to see that, I think I would be sick.
Seeing Tom Harmon's Heismann trophy up close gave me chills, very very cool to see one that close. Don't think I'm a high roller because I'm not, however I did take the official Big House tour and highly recommend it.
I think there's too much focus on the number of wins. I think it was exceptional to beat MSU and having no idea on the actual "count", the special scoreboard presentation was something I'll never forget. However, since that time, it seems like everyone knows what the count is. I'd personally rather let it go back to dormancy, they can make a special presentation for #1000 which I hope to also see in person.
To take nothing away from Schembechler, Fielding Yost also deserves a statue. In my thinking, he spearheaded the building of the stadium, he had the vision about the attendance, and that it would continue to grow, whatever plays he was innovating at the time he coached was shockingly effective on the field.
...but a rather sad day for the University. In nearly 200 years of existence, the University never saw fit to honor an individual with a stature on campus despite an impressive list of alumni. So, of course, the athletic department has to put a statue to a football coach. And given that the honored coach was noted for preaching "the team, the team, the team" the irony is disgusting.
Someday when the inevitable Dave Brandon statue graces the athletic campus, it's my sincere hope that it is favored by pigeons and that Brandon's bronzed dome will be covered in pigeon shit in perpetuity.
So anyone who valued teamwork shouldn't have a statue. Because that is somehow disgusting. Okay.
The irony in your mention of the activity of pigeons in relation to statues is that it takes a pigeon brain to think that a statue of a coach somehow runs counter to the idea of team. So let's see, what does a coach coach? Yes, a team. The statue exemplifies the notion of an individual who is a team leader, not an individual apart from a team. Without a team, there is no coach. If you cannot see the nuance there, then I guess its that's the breaks when you are limited by a pigeon brain.
Charles Woodson is a handsome dude. Where's all the endorsements? He should be all over the tube.
Right now we are no closer than at the end of RichRodc Era. Perhaps farther away.
I love Brady Hoke but IMO Nuss is a coach is coach in waiting.
I also say bring on Morris. DG was both great and awful last year.
B1G Championship by 2015 is a must
Envy of this tradition drives people to burn couches.

Bo's statue looks like MacArthur wading onshore to take back the Philippines.
From the Big House to Crisler to Schembechler Hall, Michigan continues to impress with its improvements to existing structures.* Its difficult to imagine how each structure could have been better improved.
*Yes, I am strategically excluding the new structure that is the electronic billboard outside the Big House.
I got to be honest, I was expecting the statue to be horrible. Most modern statues are, and statues of sport figures are the worst of the worst. For example, take a look at the Joe Pa statue (or ex-statue I should say.) There is WAY too much going on in that one (arm in the air, he is running at you, or away from something.) Then there is the Nick Saban one, which...wow. Kinda looks like he is clapping at a golf match. But, most importantly, Bo is not smiling. Smiling statues creep the crap out of me.
