I was due to renew my Alumni Association dues and received an email today that said, "Get two free football tickets to any 2014 football home game when you uprade to lifetime at a reduced rate."

Normally lifetime is $1000, the discounted it down to $669, plus 2 tickets, plus a fleece.  So Dave Brandon has so many people not renewing and the schedule sucks so much, that now they are giving away your choice of any home game.  Of course this was not offered last year.  I chose PSU and got the fleece in my wife's size.

5 year gold $339 -get an umbrella and a different alumni card(to impress your friends)

5 year $289

3 year gold $239 -get a M pint glass and a different card(to impress your beer drinking friends)

3 year $189

Offer is only available until April 10th.  Hurry now, while supplies last!

The hyperlink works, but you can't actually purchase that package with the discount.  That was specific to you; I even called and they said it only works if you go through the email that you got.  Want to forward me the email?

and what not being a consistent top 20 team for too long does. Not really a surprise. 2014 will be the most important season in memory, BUSINESS wise. Everyone knows the home schedule is not very inspiring. Meanwhile alums and ticket holders are being asked to buck up continually and are rewarded with Miami ,OH, Utah and Appy State plus the lower echelon of the B1G, including Maryland. Brady needs to steam roll everyone at home and win either at OSU or MSU to keep the Big House filled with season ticket holders in 2015. Too easy to watch every UM game on HD TV, save $1000's, with all the comforts of home without "wasting" the whole day. This year one should be able to buy tickets onthe secondary market for about $200 ... for the whole season.

Maybe they can fill in all the empty seats digitally so it doesnt look so embarassing on TV.  I was one of the many that gave up my season tickets this year.  Cost of tickets and donation was the one and ONLY reason.  I will still be there every saturday, just using stub hub now.

Sorry to be crabby, but I am VERY frustrated with this lousy 8 home game schedule, the team's performance, and the general pricing out of the average fan. On a positive note, I am looking forward to cheering on our men's gymnastics team in the NCAA gymnastics championships at Crisler in two weeks!

have not been going the way they'd like. Funny things happen when prices go through the roof over the course of just a few years and the schedule stinks to boot. Maybe this means that the demand for UM football tickets is elastic after all.

I got the email the OP references and I got a letter with the same offer.  I replied by asking if anybody in the Athletic Department had bothered to read my season ticket survey response or either of the two emails I sent to Dave Brandon.

I got the same response I got to my earlier correspondence.  Nothing.

Typically, when faced with an e-mail from little-known and even less-heralded African royalty, I have always replied that I will not front any of the costs at the beginning, but I do mention that if they would be willing to drop the check in the mail with some pertinent banking information (and a letter authorizing me to represent their business interests in the United States), I will deposit the check and take a flat fee of no more than 50% of the total for administrative costs.

we allowed MSU and OSU to be changed to the same yearly schedule. What other conference school had critical rivalries treated that way?

I'm sure you're right but my question is the same as Don's....why?  Why are we, the 900 pound revenue gorilla, worried about playing nice with the Minnesota's, Purdue's and Northwestern's of the football world?  Why do we give a shit if the bottom tier of the B1G gets their panties in a wad over something?

We should've flexed our muscles a bit and said no...we are NOT going to have our schedule screwed-up like this.  No...we are not playing MSU back to back years at their place and let the B1G figure out what to do.

It wouldn't be the first time we got screwed over on schedules. Sometimes it would be nice to be Texas and dictate to the rest of conference.

and not the Athletic Dept.  They might be using football tickets as a tool.

I imagine its a two faced monster.  A newly minted graduate is scratching for employment, housing, etc and probably not flush with $1k liquid money sitting around.  Move down the road a couple of years and they might then have the $1k but they might live far from Ann Arbor and attending football gets tough.

I joined the year after I graduated.  Obviously it cost less then, but the large carrot for me, though, was *football season tickets*.....

They're reaching out to graduating seniors too. I got an email saying that I could be put on the season ticket list for $100 rather than the usual $500.

I think this bodes well for my upgrade requests!

Buy low and sell high.

I'm using this schedule as my chance to lock in 8 seats on Row A of the sideline.  : )
