Poor RR decision equals new QB controversy?
Look, I'm not one to question Rodriguez' coaching decisions, but in this case I have to make an exception. I thought both QB's moved the ball well, but if I have to choose between a future great coach and a QB with mad freestyle skills I know which one I'd choose every time. Cone represents the future of hybrid awkward white QB's who bust verbal caps in fools, Sheridan is the traditional QB/future coach with limited athletic ability. One is the future, the other is the past.
Rodriguez should have put the Coner in much sooner--OMG worst coaching move ever.

Yeah! And where the hell was Nader Furrha? Fucking Rich Rod.

for the future.

All kidding aside, Cone played well and I'm happy for him. Nice job coach Rod for making such a great EFFORT in getting the 3,4, and 5 stringers in. These kids have busted their humps on the practice squad and were rewarded. Family values.......suck it Boren with your shitty all 5* o-line at tuos.

That was funny. I don't care who you are.

I am glad he got out there for a quarter, played pretty well, and completed some passes. Now he'll have a nice lasting memory of playing instead of his last pass being that interception near the goal line back in September.

finish with a QB rating of -100 which is where Nick stood going into the game.

But Sheridan did dominate Minnesota on the road, and threw a pretty pass to Shaw against Utah as well....
I'd remember those more than Delaware State.

Might not be the most talented guy, but he did all that he could last year. The Minnesota game will always be his moment. I'm glad he'll always have that.

....Somewhere a room full of chimpanzees at the Freep is hard at work on this....
Either this or "Michigan keeps Mesko on the bench; shows boorishness in win...Glenn Winston saves nuns from train wreck"
October 18th, 2009 at 11:03 AM ^
When Sheridan was handing off to Kevin Grady in the third quarter, I foresaw the Freep's next lead story: Michigan disgraces itself by allowing 2008 starting QB and 5-star running back to run up score against lowly Delaware State. Oh the humanity!
October 18th, 2009 at 1:37 PM ^
The editors are having problems with the Winston piece. It seems the nuns were on the tracks but the only reason Winston stopped the train was so he could rob the passengers.

Be real. Kennedy has 6 very important games to contribute in. He should have had all 2nd half snaps.
On a lighter note...Sheridan looked good to me. His arm is stronger than last year, but his feet still go the same speed.
October 18th, 2009 at 11:55 AM ^
Yeah, Sheridan still isn't fast enough for this offense, but I thought he was tossing the ball much better than I remembered. Looked pretty comfortable in the pocket, too.
He can tell his players about that when he takes over for RichRod as head coach in 20 years.

devin gardner may decommit due to the excellence of the Cone
October 18th, 2009 at 12:05 PM ^
coner to break off a 40 yard run for a TD, now that would have been great!!!
October 18th, 2009 at 12:16 PM ^
+1 is the least a smile can cost. Well done!
I was pulling for Cone yesterday too. Surprisingly, yesterday I was "upset" with an RR decision for the first time. I thought he should have let Cone get a passing TD at the end.
October 18th, 2009 at 12:17 PM ^
I would argue Mesko not getting reps at QB was a slap in the face, but then I realize we already had the lead. Scoring a touchdown on every play wasn't necessary.
October 18th, 2009 at 11:28 PM ^
Heh, maybe some QB practice would help him judge his fake punts better... I don't dispute Mesko's reign as Space Emperor or his ability to put a football into orbit but that had to be one of the ugliest plays of the year.
Plus I imagine Mesko throwing a pass and it makes me laugh inside.
Edit: Negbanged? Really? ...Does that mean someone here actually thinks Mesko would be a good quarterback?
October 18th, 2009 at 12:42 PM ^
I think yesterday's game raises the question "why wasn't Cone the starting quarterback in 2008?"
Simple answer: Rodriguez was throwing the season. I HOPE IT WAS WORTH IT, RICH.

"Michigan Runs on Fourth Down, Forces Delaware State Band to do Wave"
October 18th, 2009 at 2:34 PM ^
They just might whine about the 4th-down tries. One of the whiners who sits behind me bitched up a storm about that call. Apparently it's classier to kick a chipshot FG to break the 50-point barrier?
