M vs. Texas, 5:15pm Eastern/2:15pm Pacific on Saturday

Submitted by San Diego Mick on

Just wanted to share this bit of info with everyone, not sure if it has been posted anywhere, not sure what network yet, I looked at the guide and CBS is the only network of the 4 that has a game slated for that time slot, so I'm guessing CBS.

Will be a challenging game, we better come out more focused for any game going forward if we expect to march on!!!

Also, it's my B-Day on Saturday, a win would be a wonderful gift!!!

I've been to all of those places, though, aside from the Middle East. Maybe we can take the 4 hour drive to Bangladesh and pretend it's the Middle East because they're Muslim.

Anyway, we'll see if I actually have the will-power left to be awake since I stayed up last night to keep track of games (though I can't actually watch any of them, which is pretty friggin spectacular). Or my laptop could just die.... we get electricity for like, 3 hours a day.

I did laugh, though, I sadly havn't seen any planes since I got off of one in January to get here. I'm like, 30 miles from Burma though, so I'm fairly close to Malaysia, but no where close to the ocean so it doesn't matter.

Also, I'm trying to not pay any attention to the whole missing airplane thing since I'll be on about 8 different airplanes come May.

There are more than a billion people living in India. Would you like each of them to explain themselves to you? I'm guessing he realized that Big Macs are a lot cheaper if you make them out of chicken.

Actually, I'm in North East India (that random growth south of China that no one actually knows is a part of India) which is about 50% Christian, and the town I'm in is close to 100% Christian. So we eat beef a few times a week, because screw chicken Big Macs. No McD's anywhere near here, though. I'm kinda in the mountains here.

I'm completing a semester-long internship/study abroad type thing. Basically I teach kids how to speak English not because I'm a teacher or anything, but because I speak English which by their standards means I can teach it.

I'll be back stateside in a little over a month, because there's this commencement thing that I hear I should be a part of.

Crap. Was hoping for a late game. Friends and I always go to the MHSAA basketball finals this weekend. Looks like I get to split time between Josh Jackson/Detroit Consortium and the Michigan game.

Album, I believe I bought mine 40 years ago this fall as a college freshman.  And 40 years later, it's still in good condition, as is the booklet that was included within.  Album cover itself is a bit rough around the edges, it may have been used numerous times as a rolling tray back in the day.  Part of the process of being "out of my brain", I suppose...

I love how in 2014, some people still note pacific time (or central, mountain). I am not putting down the OP, just the people who cannot do simple subtraction.

at least to the general masses, while such a distinction may not be necessary for a live sporting event, many shows air at a different time in MT or PT. If you watch primetime shows that air at 9:00 ET, they may air at 9:00 PT, because at 9:00 ET the local news is airing on the west coast.

I am an old person who will happen to be in Ann Arbor on business tomorrow.  Where should i go to watch the game without getting swarmed by drunk undergrads?

Serious answers to your question:

Main Street
Conor's - Irish "pub".  Big, lots of space.  Probably little trouble finding room unless you show up right at tip.

Washington Ave
Grizzly Peak/Old German - MicroBrew. (OG below GP, has a HUGE tv at the bar and might be overlooked at the earlier 5:15pm tip off)

Arena.  Get there early.  And then an hour before.  Good bar food and beer selection.  Traditional game hang out and will be packed.

Blue Tractor - MicroBrew.  My third WashAve option.  Good TVs at the bar, decent microbrew selection.  Good food.  The bar has an ice strip on it that is fun to play with.

Liberty/State Street Area
BWW - Self-explanatory.

Bar Louie - Big, clear TVs at the bar.  Great beer selection.  Chain restaurant that attracts a chain restaurant crowd, but a decent fall back option because of the bar and the great TVs.

South U Area
All student geared bars.

Away From Downtown
BWW by the mall

Someone mentioned Fraser's Pub on Packard just off of campus.  Thumbs up from me

Cubs AC bowling alley/restaurant just south of campus on State St has big crowds for games.

Any other bars/restaurants not on this list I left off because they either A) have poor TV selections, B) Are small, C) Are more restauranty than bary or D) all of the above.

Well, it's probably a good thing that my in-laws are taking the kids tonight so my wife and I can go out to dinner because there would be a conflict if it were at 5:15 PM tomorrow. Well, more appropriately, the conflict would be mine, not my wife's, I am sure.

In any case, preliminary estimates on Massey to get to the Elite Eight now look like this:

Vs. Texas - 66.89%

To pass Sweet 16 - 31.09% (based on combination of outcomes, of course - in isolation, I like our chances against the prospective opponent, which would be Duke)

I watched the first half yesterday on my phone during a school bond committee meeting, and will watch Saturday from the auditorum of a dance competition.  Thanks smart phone for making life tolerable in these situations.

Flight departure:  4:55 p.m. ET

Flight arrival:   7:55 p.m. ET

Flight Wi-Fi:  N/A

First time I'm flying Southwest Airlines in over a decade, and the stupid plane that I'm scheduled to fly on is currently listed as Wi-Fi incapable.   The kicker...I'm flying out of Milwaukee.  I will be within minutes of the Bradley Center (or whatever corporate name it is today) near tip-off, and won't be able to catch the game. Not a happy camper today.   Maybe it's time to look for alternative flight arrangements.

Are you flying home or to somewhere away from home? If going home, set the DVR and watch it when you get home. Don't forget to set the stop time hours after the guide says it will end because with live sports, there is almost always a chance that they will run over the time the guide says it will end.

I'm flying away from home.  I have DirecTV w/ DVR.  I'll definitely record the game.   I just need to find a way to watch the recording from afar.   I know nothing about slingbox-type applications, but I'll have to do a ton of research in a short period of time.

ADVICE?!   ADVISE?!

I have a slingbox and it is awesome. The set up VERY easy and you can begin watching within 10 minutes. You simply connect componenet cables from your cable box to the slingbox and do some very basic router configuration. ( i think the slingbox will do it automatically for you)

If you are away from home often, I would recomend it.
