Ryan Mallett's performance today

Submitted by physics guy on
He was up against a tough defense and it showed in his numbers: 12/27, 224 yards, 1TD, 0INT. More disturbing were the numerous instances that he got in teammates' faces on incomplete/dropped passes. Looks like the leadership part of his game still has a long way to go.

Arkansas should have won. The refs gave Florida 35 yards in penalties on the game tying drive. Those two calls were horrible. Mallet played okay. FG kicker missed two of them.

The refs and kicker didn't lose the game, the Arkansas coaches did. With a little under (4) minutes to go on their own 20-30 yard line they elect to have Mallet risk what ultimatley lead to an incompletion on 2nd & 4 only to come back and have their 3rd and 4 attempt stuffed? You have (2) plays to pick up (4) yards, but more importantly keep that clock churning. Florida's defense aside if you pass on 2nd and 4 you pass on 3rd and 4...same as if you run on 2nd and 4 you run on 3rd and 4.

Ryan is a awfully talented kid who can throw the heck outta the football. I just don't think he has patience in the pocket yet and when pressured, he makes mistakes. Plus, he's not Tate like in his ability to throw on the run. But you can bet that NFL scouts are DROOLING over him. If he gets the right coaching, he'll be a good one to watch on Sundays.

SEC sucks. For all the hype they get the football has been both dreadful and boring this season. If Florida is the #1 team in the country then Michigan can be no worse the #6. Seriously we could beat Florida with a few breaks here and there. Tebow would be third string QB in AA, no offense to Sheridan and Cone intended.

Florida didn't get BOOM!MALLETTED, but Mallett didn't get Spiked, either. The correct team won, and Mallett really didn't do anything to either gain or lose position on the food chain. And he probably had a few "teachable moments" which will allow the coaching staff to impart their wisdom later this week.

deserved to have mallett in their faces. he was putting a lot of those passes right on the money only to see his receiver drop it. and yes the SEC is beyond overrated. if arkansas had managed to beat florida all we would've heard was how good the SEC is, purdue beats ohio st today and it's an example of how bad the big ten is. what the fuck is that? i blame ohio state.

After watching some of his outbursts towards his teammates and hearing about some of his rants here I could not help but wonder if he will be another Ryan Leaf if he gets in the pros and has a bad start to his career. If he gets in a big media market and they hound him I wonder how he will handle it. I dont think this will be the case but it just makes me think of it when i see him getting pissed.
