Lunardi Says Michigan Currently a #1 Seed

Submitted by bballislife22 on

@Sportscenter just tweeted that Lunardi has bumped us up to a #1 seed following our win over Ohio. I would assume we would still have to win tomorrow to keep it though, especially if it's against Wisconsin. Still cool stuff.

"Joey Brackets making changes! @ESPNLunardi has Michigan climbing in front of Villanova for final 1 seed after win vs. Ohio State."

1-seed and clean up inbounding and defense a little bit...anything can happen this year. I don't see a true dominate team like North Carolina in the past or even Louisville last year.

Sorry to thread jack, but the RCMB is hilarious. Every time Michigan wins or hits a lot of threes, it's because they are lucky or getting help from the referees. These fools on the RCMB don't realize that Michigan is one of the top teams in the country when it comes to fouling. They have been like that all season, so why their idiotic fans continue to bitch about getting help from the referees is beyond me.

I agree that they're playing well, but I'd consider the high powered offensive teams to be more of a threat to us than a team like Virginia.  I think we can score on anyone, and I just don't see Virginia (or a like team) being able to keep up with us on the offesnive end right now.

Am I wrong to assume with a win tomorrow we are a #1 seed and with a loss tomorrow we are the #2 in the Midwest with Wichita? If so, I won't complain either way.

It has to do with Delaney's stones.  The B1G has the national stage for 2 hours before the tournament draw.  Our beloved conference is the very last piece of the March Madness puzzle.  Do you think Delaney would ever give up that spotlight?  It gives some credence to the power and relevance of the conference (given we can't sniff a MNC in football).

Although TeamRankings still has its #1 seeds rather solidly as Arizona, Wichita State, Villanova and Florida (not in that order), the recent stats show Villanova slipping a bit and Mchigan gaining, and this was before today's result. At least in their projection, another win tomorrow from us may very well make it a debate between us and Villanova in their algorithm.

Coach Beilein is, in my mind, the top coach in any sport UofM has seen. He brought this team back from near death and sustained success, in the face of losing multiple NBA level players, is astounding.

Honestly, this surprises me. I could see Duke getting the 1 seed ahead of us (provided they win their conference tournament) because of the head to head.....and the fact that they're Duke.

^This.  The #1 will have to play the #2 anyways (theoretically).  I don't think it matters that much if you play the #3 or the #4 on your way.  And I think this team would respond better to being an underrated #2 rather than being overhyped #1.

Lunardi's nitty report has us at #3 overall jumping both Nova and Wichita State.

Duke is #5 and UVA is #11. I guess I am rooting for UVA tomorrow in that game, But we may be #1 if we win regardless.
