Buying B1G Tourney Tickets in Indy?

Submitted by sarto1g on

Headed down to Indy this weekend for the semifinals and final.   We made the decision to forego Stubhub and buy tickets on the street before the game.  Never scalped  before, does anyone have any best practices?  I've heard that there are lots of fans there looking to dump their losing team's tickets.  Any truth to that?  Advice?

There are plenty getting rid of tickets but be careful. I have seen people try to get in with the ticket they bought on the street and it was a ticket to a previous game. They were scamed.

I had a nice time a few years ago when I went.

You won't have any problem finding tickets and should save quite a bit.

Plenty of good bars near by as well before and after.

Have fun and GO BLUE

I have lived in Indianapolis now for 15 years and I can tell you that generally experiences with scalpers is pretty good. Scalping is actually legal in Indiana which makes the experience more open and comfortable. Only restrictions are that you cannot sell/buy within a certain area of the stadium - something like a block or two. You will actually see police officers around the city, but this actually makes the process safer and more comfortable. Even when the Superbowl was here a few years ago, stories of fake tickets weren't related to the local scalpers, but rather online services.

Since I'm a solo Michigan fan stuck here at work with a bunch of Hoosier and Boilermaker fans, I'm heading out later this morning and will buy a single ticket myself.

By the way, awesome site. I haven't felt there has been anything I could contribute to, but thought I'd give you some feedback since I live locally in Indianapolis. Go Blue!

There are a lot of people trying to get rid of tickets, but scalpers generally gobble them up before fans have a chance to. In fact, scalpers even use one of their tickets or a crappy seat to get into the building and get access to the tickets before they hit the street. You may get lucky and find tickets directly from fans, but don't be surprised if you have to settle for scalpers.

Make sure to stop by O'Reillys before/after to partake with the brethren.  B1G appoints school-specific bars so don't find yourself in the middle of a hostile viewing party.
