Postgame Snowflakes and Looking Forward to the Postseason

Submitted by bballislife22 on

Good win for the boys today over IU, finishing off a regular season that included at least one victory over every single Big Ten team. Defense struggled a little bit, but Indiana did hit some very difficult shots as well. Offense looked good for the most part, sparked by a strong senior night effort for JMo.

After this great Big Ten regular season, how confident is everyone feeling about the Big Ten Tournament and the "Big Dance"? I personally feel like we're looking about as good as we have all season the last 5 games or so, besides the Wisconsin/Iowa/MSU gauntlet that we ran earlier this season.

Can't wait to get the postseason started. You know this Beilein led crew is going to be a very tough out for anyone, and a team nobody wants to face. Go Blue!!!

Open question to someone who watches more college bball than me... are all NCAA bball officials as bad as the ones in the big ten or are our officials just eons worse than the rest?  I just have no idea what they are looking at half the time.

GRIII is playing as well and consistently as he has been all year.  We will go as far as our defense will take us.  Could be an early out of both tournaments, but this team has had a fair bit of adversity and has won a lot of close games.  I'm optimistic.

I could moan about a couple of things and I could praise a couple of things...but who cares. This is one game where it's truly just about getting the W.

Really from this point on I don't care about anything but the W.

Ehhh, couldn't do it. J-Mo, thank you...GRIII we need you to be in attack mode for 40 minutes - not 20.

Okay, now I'm done.

Victory over an asshole coach feels mighty sweet.  But man, that was stressful.  REALLY stressful.  Amazing how an NIT bound team with so many awful performances against awful teams this year suddenly hits everything and the kitchen sink when they play Michigan.  Even after beating them, I hate them more than before the game.

I haven't looked yet, but what does this loss for IU do for them as far as seeding goes in the BTT? Are they still on course to play us on Friday if they win Thursday?

We took advantage of the free throws and turnovers, but shooting that poorly from long-distance is not a recipe for success in the NCAAs.

I like how we kept driving it when the 3's didn't drop.   GRIII is peaking at just the right time and that just might help carry us to the Regional finals as long as we can hit at least our season average on 3's.  However, I wouldn't be sad if we lost our first or second game in the B1G tourney.  I'd rather have an extra day or two of rest for the team.

I don't do the twitters, but my wife tells me Ace thinks there was a bit of a farewell and thanks for all the fish salute from Stauskas as he descended the ladder. Can't say too surprising, but makes it a bit bittersweet.

I love it when we beat Sparty. I love it when we beat Ohio State. I love it when we beat Wisconsin. For some reason though there is nothing that feels much better than beating Tom Crean. What an asshole. I thought that we were going to boot this one. Thanks to the team for hanging in there.

If only that would be the end of Crean freaking occupying space on the court that the opposing team is entitled to.

His penitent act was unbelievable, as if he does do that shit intentionally all f'n game long.

Obviously, some serious defensive issues at times in that game, and the old defensive glass woe definitely reared its ugly head.

They came out like they had nothing to lose - we came out like we had nothing to win.

Hope this is a good experience, as the boys took the punches and hung in there.

Great effort by J-Mo on his senior night. So many memories for that guy to take with him. So impressive how he somehow put his mind in the right place to come on so strong when McGary went down.
