SB Wins Only Game Played This W/E; Others Cancelled Due to Rain
I hesitate to post this weekend's SB update; however, I know many of you are big softball fans. Besides This is Michigan and nothing is too trivial for us.
The big rains that invaded Southern California this weekend washed out most of the games this weekend at the Louisville Slugger Invitational at Lakewood, Cali. We did get one game in this weekend against the Utah Valley Wolverines. All the other games were cancelled and today the AD anmnounced that we would play UCLA at their field since the girls will be in Cali this week.
We beat Utah Valley 6-1 in a mercy-rule win. Sara and Haylie split the pitching duties. Sara limited the Wolverines to 1 run off 2 hits; she had 2 Ks and 2 BBs. Haylie blanked the Wolverines off 1 hit; she had 4 Ks and 1 BBs. Haylie got the win to improve her record to 8-0. The game was tied 1-1 going into the bottom of the third before the wheels fell off for the Wolverines.
On offense, the Wolverines scored 7 runs off 10 hits. Romo led the offense by going 3 for 3 with 2 RBIs and 1 run scored. Caitlin went 3 for 4 with 3 RBIs and 1 run scored. Kelsey went 2 for 4 with 2 RBIs. It was a well-balanced offensive attack for the Wolverines.
We will play at UCLA Tuesday and Wednesday before heading to the World Class Judi Garman Classic this weekend.
I was looking forward to see how Michigan did in this tourney Oh well, they still get a chance to prove how they stack up against UCLA on Wed.
Glad they were able to reschedule the marquee showdown with UCLA. Both of those teams must really want a piece of each other, knowing that those are the kind of wins that build tournament resumes. Hopefully all the turmoil of the weekend won't put the ladies off their game!
I will not be in SoCal this weekend. Actually I am heading to Atlanta to catch the ND vs GT game either Friday or Saturday. My daughter is a weatherperson for the USAF at Warner Robbins so I will stop and say hi to her as well.

network which fortunately my cable co carries so Ill get to see that big game..It sure would be nice to play some of these big name softball schools in AA once in awhile.With the 2 UCLA games and this weeks tourney with A BUNCH of big games I believe this will say alot about our team this year...We are also going to play AZ St, Wash, Texas AND Arizona
Final was 7-1. Game was called when the rain started up again.

BTW: No one caught my little play on words in the OP. Utah Valley is called the Wolverines as well. There are only 2 D1 schools with that Nickname.
I was going to say....6-1 doesn't sound like a mercy rule type of score. Squad looks to be a contender this year.
