Awesome photoshop can't wait for November!!! 3 straight banners!!
Photoshop? I am not sure what that is. I can promise you that these two gentlemen took me on a trip.
It's your kids Marty, Something's gotta be done about your kids. They think Michigan State is better because they are not healthy yet!
Here's to there being more than one 2014 banner when all is said and done
Amen!
This!
B1G Tourney champs (assuming there's a banner for this)
Final Four appearance
National Champs.
Am I missing any??
Big ten coach of the year and big ten player of the year!
How about NATIONAL Coach of the Year!
Don't forget the Women's versions of those! Hey, I mean, it's 2013! Maybe a Women's Gymnastics banner too. Any chance on a Burke banner?
2014 you mean... We shall not speak of the year that must not be named.
And there is a Tourney champs banner. Michigan put one up in 1998 after winning the inaugural Big Ten Tournament. It was later vacated though.
Don't worry, John Beilein is on a mission to replace all the banners that were taken down.
Good one
As one of the VERY few posters who remember 1986 I say congrats and go blue.
Gary Grant says hi......
Maybe it was, lol. I started following UM with Rudy T.
Cazzie, cough, cough, and Bill Buntin.
Along with Cazzie and Buntin, don't forget 'the Big O'...Oliver Darden.
The first NIT Championship. When they still had the red, white, and blue basketballs.
Whoo Hoo!
The Secretary of Defense.
I remember the '89 game well and I was in 5th grade. I was on the concrete bball court the week before shooting free throws with friend that was a much better free throw shooter at the time. After he out-performed me I told him that free throws were worthless and needless to say I was soon proven very wrong and I was very happy about it.
Those free throws were so clutch. Rumeal didn't display any hint of nervousness, which was very unlike those of us watching in Ann Arbor ...
That 1985-86 season began 10 years before I was born.
95er Nation.
Prior to the 2011-12 season, the only thing I saw Michigan win in basketball was an NIT. So I really like the 2010s so far.
95er? I'm a 97er. People always chuckle when I say "I remember" when talking about teams before my time.
97er? 99er. I barely even remember when Michigan was good at football!
As a 94er I started on this board when I was a freshman in high school.
Now THAT explains a great deal! All this time I thought you were a grow ass man, some disgruntled down-river laid off UAW guy whose angst and passive aggressive attitude toward Michigan football was somewhat understandable considering your (imagined) real world shafting. Turns out you're nothing of the sort, despite your internet demeanor. Cheer up my friend, as trust me when I tell you that these years are supposed to be the best of your life.
Although I respect your right to express your opinions, from here on out I'm going to find it increasingly difficult to give them any credence considering your near complete lack of, you know, anything resembling real world experience and perspective. Just sayin'.
Laid off five years and counting.
Not sure how you got that impression out of me, but alright. I realize I don't have much ''real world experience'' I guess, but I'd like to think that I have a much more realistic view of life than a lot of people my age.
I feel old as an 89er. Kids need to get off my damn lawn.
Um. Yeah.
I remember when MTV actually played music videos! When you can say that, then you can talk to me about feeling old!!
When MTV played the first music video!
(Full disclosure: my parents didn't have cable, but it was the buzz at school the next day).
Wow, never thought being born in 87 would feel so old. Damn kids!
I am not the oldest on the blog by any stretch, but I was born in the early summer of 1978. This entire segment of the thread makes me feel old now. I will probably start drinking earlier than normal on a Sunday as a result of reading this, as I now know that a couple fellow MGoBloggers were born when I was at Michigan.
Old? I was 27 years old when you were born. I'm so old I have young whipper snappers like you tell the young'uns to get off my lawn.
I was starting my second year at U-M... And YOU feel old?
My best buddy was a Virginia grad. The Cavaliers met the Wolverines in the great 8. We agreed before the match that we would go to the FInal 4. Rice and Higgins crushed Virginia by 50 points and he was a man of his word and we bucked up and made the trip. We ventured out to the Kingdome where UM was for certain to be crushed by Illinois the third time in 89. I'll NEVER forget Higgins put back v Illinois, Glen Rice going full throttle Stauskas, and Rumeal Robinson's FTs.
The rest is history but seeing UM and UVa win their titles today made me think of getting ready to see some more tournament action with my Wahoo friend.
and was stuck for two weeks as a transient at the Philadelphia Navy Yard on duty for the Illinois game. Had to watch huddled around a little 14 inch screen with a bunch of Michigan-hater 'experts' who razzed me about Illinois' superiority. Until the end. There is not much that is sweeter than in-person schadenfreude.
Gary is still one of my favorite players of all time. Watched a couple of games with him in west quad tv room. He was hilarious. A lot of good stories.
Hell, I have vivid memories of 1976.
... leading the Wolverines to victory against Syracuse on the Crisler court. Think that was '86. Already had my heart set on Ann Arbor, but that game put a cherry on top. Matriculated in '87.
Weren't we the one seed and played Akron at Boise State? Barely beat them 56-52? Then lost to nova?
Right about Akron, wrong about everything else. Lost to Iowa state in second round.

I see banners.... They look glorious!
This needs to happen.
Please make a photo including "all" of our final four appearances. Go Blue!
Mixed emotions, but fuck it. We're B1G Champs!
