META: Emeril Lagasse vs John Beilein for the MgoBlog tagline win

Submitted by mGrowOld on

I'm sorry but the tagline we have up today needs to be changed.   In all due respect to the culinary prowess of Emeril Lagasse and his seasoning abilities I believe our own Coach Beilein's "Win The Game" captures far more of the essence of both the board and the team it follows than a New Orleans-based, washed-up ex-Cooking Network star.

I mean seriously - did Mitch McGary hold up a sign saying "BAM" in the closing moments against Michigan State?   No he did not.   Did Coach B implore the team to "Kick it up a notch" before the final play against Purdue?  No - that is clearly not what he said.

I know the hipsters will find using something as pedestrian and mainstream as "Win The Game" highly unhip but common now - is MgoBlog all about these guys?

Or these guys?

Don't get behind by double digits. My heart can't fucking take it!

I agree. with you though.

We can bring back the seasoning when Peppers is raising havoc against other teams.

You're not new here, so why do you act that way?

This site is clearly about the top picture.

Next you'll be asking....

1.  Do we really care about punctuation and grammar so much or the thought behind comments?

2.  Do we really want to be ones who make fun of other team's off field problems or just support all kids who play sports and go through stuggles?

3.  Do we really hate Dave Brandon's commercialization or should we be supportive of the growing revenue helping our school and program?

Etc....

What ever you think is the worse choice.... that is us.

I'd like to see the picture as a basketball net with a ball in it in the middle of a "nothing but net" shot from our own resident Canadian.  With a side of back bacon, eh.

Can we do a banner tournament like there was a several years ago? It's March, let some of those with graphic design skills mock up a few banners and lets vote. Although, I will always be partial to Naked Man.

This is going to sound like the most hipster thing to say, but who gives a shit about a throwaway tag line? It's not your blog. You aren't charged for its content. Just because certain things aren't perfectly tailored to you doesn't mean they need to be changed. I honestly don't believe the MGoStaff spends much time contemplating how often the masthead and tag line are changed. It likely will stay until some other inside joke comes along.

What's the point of bitching about it?

Phil, Phil, Phil.  You read my post as bitching?   I'm hurt.  I wrote it as a (hopefully) humorous jab at our glorious leader and nothing more.

You want to read an actual bitching post from me Lord knows I've provided the board more than a few examples: Al Borges, season tickets, student attendance, ect.  This was nothing more than trying to have some fun on a Friday morning.
