BBrown: Quick Note On 2015 LB Josh Barajas

Submitted by Brandon Brown on

Michigan offered Josh Barajas on February 7, and since then he's reeled in seven more offers from the likes of Penn State, Indiana, Virginia Tech, NC State, Ole Miss, Wisconsin, and Tennessee.

I congratulated Josh on his recent popularity on the recruiting trail and asked him about how Michigan stacks up now that he's got several new offers and a lot of extra attention.

Michigan is definitely in my top. I just got off the phone with Coach Mattison actually. He talked about me coming to Ann Arbor again and told me that I'm his guy. Mattison is awesome, I really like that guy. I think I'll try to visit again in the middle of March.

Barajas is a prospect that is starting to blow up and with Michigan being one of his first "biggish" offers the Wolverines have positioned themselves well to be in the mix for his services.

THE VIBE

0 - Passing interest or none
1 - Let's see if he visits before we talk
2 - Among large (8-15) group under consideration
3 - Contender in a top 3-7
4 - Tentative lead or solidly in a top 2-3
5 - Trending Blue.

Barajas holds Michigan in high regard and if he visits again in March that positive light could grow. I believe Michigan will be in a trimmed top group if that visit takes place and they could end up in a position to become a finalist.

If this is comprehensive for his season, these are some pretty good stats for a linebacker, I would think, at the high school level. In 2013, he managed 92 total tackles along with 5 sacks and 2 interceptions, so he definitely is a presence in the middle of the defense. There are only nine predictions right now on the site with an even split between Michigan and Michigan State actually - a productive linebacker is always welcome though, I believe.

I believe he is best suited to play the WILL, but even Josh himself wasn't 100% sure where the coaches foresee him playing. He runs well and is a little light right now at 212 lbs. Compare him to Michael Ferns who came in at 240+ at the MIKE spot.

He's got some time to grow still, but I think he's probably a WILL.

The '15 class seems to me like its slower to develop.  Maybe '14 was an anomaly but seemed like everyone jumped on board early spring/early summer and it was pretty much set except for mcdowell and hand.

I hope JB realizes what Ann Arbor can offer!
