Stafford is a tough one to pin down. He has the tools and he's tough as hell. He's also done a lot for the community.

OTOH, his record in games against good teams is awful, and he often makes mistakes in crucial situations. BUT, how much of that is due to him knowing he has to force things due to a lack of running game and shitty defense?? That's the real thing to center on if you're going to position Stafford against other NFL starting QBs.

Results-based charting would probably put him somewhere 13-18 out of 32 starting QBs pretty consistently. Not elite, not top-10, but around average or maybe a tick above average. Now, IF he had an average running game and defense during his career, he probably could relax and play more within himself and I think he'd be in the top 8-10 in the league consistently. But that has never been the case for him, so he's done what he could, and often that's meant "trying to make something happen" way too often.
