Submitted by Cold War on

On paper, it's a match made in bowl sponsorship heaven.

The Shreveport Times reported Sunday that Duck Commander -- the duck call brand made famous by the A&E reality series "Duck Dynasty" -- has reached a six-year agreement to become the title sponsor of the Shreveport, La.-based Independence Bowl.

“We can confirm that Independence Bowl Foundation officials are very excited about a partnership with Duck Commander,” Independence Bowl executive director Missy Setters told the Times. An official announcement will be made Wednesday, the paper reported.

Duck Commander will become the venerable 38-year-old bowl game's sixth title sponsor, replacing 2009-2013 sponsor Advocare...

they can be my guest. Maybe the people who go out of sheer cussed racism will make up for all of the people of color who don't. Dumbest common denominator America--at some point some of us need to draw the line.

WARNING: Negging me on this will be a declaration of your principles. And they will not be those of a Michigan man!

What is the appeal of this show? I have watched a couple episodes and I honestly don't get why they are even on TV. Seems like every "reality" show out there now is centered around idiot rednecks.

and Duck Commander makes great calls.  I've seen their show a couple times and it's mildly amusing.  Uncle Si is hilarious.  Fact is the "empire" isn't an empire without the show/tshirts/hats etc.  The calls make them wealthy, but not bowl-sponsership rich.  In five years they will still make good calls, but the phenomenon will be remembered in the same way as Real People, That's Incredible, WhoWant's to be a Millionaire, and Survivor (and a hundred others).

The game is a moment in the sun for a popularized bit of redneck culture.

Whoever today's Mod is must roll his eyes in anticipation when he or she sees a threat like this open up.
