competitive and not so one-seded?
February 23rd, 2014 at 2:48 PM ^
Hell no. If they're going to have our number in football, I'd like to be able to return the favor in basketball. A game they care much more about than football.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:08 PM ^
Football is by far more important to them, right now anyway.
February 23rd, 2014 at 4:36 PM ^
Only until they get more competitive in BB and we start winning in FB again.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:44 PM ^
A game they care much more about than football.
I'm guessing, not so much right now.
February 23rd, 2014 at 4:46 PM ^
Probably depends on who you ask. Some fans might be more geared towards the football team right now since its clearly on the rise, while you've got other fans who will always be bigger basketball fans. At the end of the day, MSU is a basketball school.
February 23rd, 2014 at 2:41 PM ^
GO BLUE!!
February 23rd, 2014 at 2:45 PM ^
Just asking since I missed the game... Anything changed with the Youtube account?
February 23rd, 2014 at 2:50 PM ^
Honestly, pretty definitive wins in both games. Crazy how things have changed.
Also, will MSU fans stop talking about Appling's wrist injury? I'm sure he's hurt, but at some point you have to stop slapping the floor and either sit him for a couple of games (and not have him play against Georgetown for 38 minutes) or stop using it as an excuse for this team scuttling. What's Harris's excuse?
February 23rd, 2014 at 2:50 PM ^
I had been told that once Payne got healthy, MSU would win by 15+. Hmm.
February 23rd, 2014 at 2:56 PM ^
He did have a sweet 1992 style Shaq dunk that cost his team a point and a possession.
February 23rd, 2014 at 2:51 PM ^
What a great win for Michigan. This team continues to fight and do us Proud. Great day to be a Michigan Man :)
February 23rd, 2014 at 2:53 PM ^
not having a healthy Payne was the only reason UM won in E.L. When he returned, MSU would beat Michigan by 30 in AA.
Now that Michigan has won again, it was Dawson's injury that provided the Wolverines a win.
You know....because Dawson is like LeBron but only more awesome-er.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:00 PM ^
I wonder what that whiny little shit izzo's excuse will be now.
You had your love child, payne, and you STILL lost. Oh, and it was by MORE than when you didn't have him!
denzel valentine is a punk who likes to talk trash 6 minutes into the game. russell byrd is still a scrub player and likes to punch Michigan logos because he can't play with Michigan.
3 in a row.
6 of the last 8.
Oh, and even if sparty makes the Final Four (they won't), their little final four streak will live, but a new streak was born on 1/25/2014. Oh yes. Senior classes at state who will leave with a LOSING record against Michigan.
izzo is now 6-6 against John Beilein and has been swept by Beilein TWICE in four years.
Make all the excuses you want, state. Facts are facts.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:07 PM ^
MSU is a joke. Screw them.
February 23rd, 2014 at 4:13 PM ^
Their Final Four streak has already ended, you know? They were not in the Final Four last year.
February 23rd, 2014 at 5:12 PM ^
they need to make the final four this year so that their seniors would have played in a final four. all of izzo's players who stayed 4 years have made a final four. it could stop this year.
appling and payne will be the first.
February 23rd, 2014 at 8:39 PM ^
Gotcha.
February 23rd, 2014 at 11:40 PM ^
Don't worry, they're not making the final four.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:01 PM ^
now sit back and listen as he specifically lists all the excuses.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:05 PM ^
We out scored MSU 11-0 after Appling and Harris slapped the ground to start the 2nd half.
February 23rd, 2014 at 9:52 PM ^
I love when Sparty does that ridiculous floor slap. It's just code for "Michigan is about to go on a run". It works (doesn't work?) every time!
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:06 PM ^
Michigan State isn't a good team. Izzo is the biggest crybaby in America.
February 23rd, 2014 at 5:53 PM ^
Not a good team?
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:06 PM ^
It's easy appearing to be gracious in victory. Try doing the same in defeat once in a while.
What a putz.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:08 PM ^
He's one of the most classless coaches in all of sports. It's too bad many people kiss his *** in the media (and even on this board at times).
February 23rd, 2014 at 4:07 PM ^
Izzo reminds me of Alabama fans. Very classy when they win but acts like a whiny jackass when they lose.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:08 PM ^
... was the Sparty smack talk from the bench. Trice? Valentine? One of those two-time losers this year. Schadenfreude indeed!
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:13 PM ^
he even experienced an official crew that hosed MSU - hope they play at Cameron in the near future.
Way to go Blue. Absolute dominance after the slow start and Izzo knew they were punished enough with 90 seconds left.
TKO.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:17 PM ^
"shut up you little boys. We are still the premier sports program in the country. How many people would be happy with top 3 in fball and bball?"
One Rose Bowl and top five football finish and that makes you THE PREMIER sports program in the country. Let's ask Stanford, Michigan, and even OSU what that means.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:33 PM ^
Top 10 programs in both football and basketball? Probably
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:28 PM ^
Anyone else think this might be the best MSU basketball team we see in the next few years? Harris is a top 10 pick on several mock drafts, and would be crazy not to leave for the NBA. They lose Payne/Appling to graduation. Their 2013/14 recruiting classes don't have a Gary Harris like difference maker either. This may be Izzo's best year to move on.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:29 PM ^
Hey Sparty, why don't you slap the floor some more the next game again Michigan ya freaking tools- I hate you guys!
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:34 PM ^
The Only Colors game thread actually has less intelligent posters than the RCMB, at least for this game. Gotta love the "scUM" count. Yeesh.
February 23rd, 2014 at 3:45 PM ^
A few good quotes from RCMB:
"Schilling actually wasn't an abortion today."
"Costello played like complete dung beetle ass."
Those guys are craftsmen of the English language.
February 23rd, 2014 at 4:47 PM ^
@ Purdue
vs. Minnesota
@ Illinois
vs. Indiana
Oh man, last four games are so winnable. Outright B1G title tantalizingly close. Please close out strong fellas!
February 23rd, 2014 at 5:19 PM ^
Enjoy the win and move on we've got a trip to west Lafayette against a team desperate for a win they have got to be focused. Honestly there is no excuse not to sweep the last 4 games I would be disappointed if they didn't. GO BLUE SWEEP!
February 23rd, 2014 at 5:34 PM ^
I am noticing Sparty nation all just talking about football now. Pathetic bunch.
February 23rd, 2014 at 7:17 PM ^
We have done the same plenty of times.
February 23rd, 2014 at 5:40 PM ^
State realizes that we are better than them at basketball. I love it!
February 23rd, 2014 at 5:52 PM ^
This is a crazy reversed world we're in right now
February 23rd, 2014 at 8:30 PM ^
Football is reversed, but basketball is returning to the normal state of affairs. Prior to Ellerbe, we were usually the better program. Even now, after the lost decade, we still lead the all-time series by like 20 games.
February 23rd, 2014 at 5:50 PM ^
Which apparently Mitch replicated at one of the last TOs (did anyone snap a photo of it, he didn't point it in the direction of Section 114?)
February 23rd, 2014 at 6:07 PM ^
What I love most of this win is tht when we swept them in 2010 the argument was that MSU wasn't very good and granted they weren't. Many UM fans wanted to sweep a good MSU team. Beilein has beatn them 6 of the last 8 meetings, he's developing talent to send to the NBA, he's winning games that count ie final fours, and he's out recruiting them as well. Nuff said!
February 23rd, 2014 at 8:36 PM ^
2011 was the other sweep. 2010 was the last time we lost to them at Crisler, when we missed the tip-in at the buzzer. (Even then, Beilein outcoached Izzo - his crappy team took Izzo's Final Four-bound team right to the wire, and he drew up a beautiful play for the final shot, but it missed.)
February 23rd, 2014 at 6:09 PM ^
Really hope Hoke was taking notes. U have to outplay them mentally and physically and no excuses!!
February 23rd, 2014 at 6:26 PM ^
Remember how Russell Byrd was talking junk after the last game, saying how this one was going to be totally different?
The dude chipped in zero points and played sieve-like D on LeVert.
