How the hell does Ohio State keep reloading with these 1st round CBs?!
Roby, Apple, Ward, Lattimore and now Okudah looks like a lockdown too.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:04 PM ^
It’s stupid.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
They recruit studs. Their recruiting, and for that matter, player development is really good.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:22 PM ^
It’s called putting effort in recruiting the best players.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:30 PM ^
OSU continues to get STUD DB's because they look for kids with good talent. That, and making sure their recruits can catch pop ups and ground balls, are good at swimming, and can excel at basketball and dodgeball. You know...the things that really matter when evaluating a player.
September 28th, 2019 at 10:04 PM ^
It's called making a commitment to being a National player in college football.
September 29th, 2019 at 10:39 AM ^
According to annual expense forms submitted by both schools to the NCAA, obtained by MLive via a public records request, Michigan has outspent Ohio State by a more than 50 percent margin under Harbaugh when it comes to recruiting expenses. From 2015 to 2018, Michigan spent a total of more than $4.7 million to OSU’s $2.954 million.
The gap was no larger than in 2017, when Michigan spent nearly twice as much as Ohio State on recruiting, $1,559,796 to OSU’s $773,163. Michigan’s recruiting class in 2018 ranked 22nd nationally, compared to Ohio State’s No. 2-ranked class, according to 247Sports.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:12 PM ^
Recruiting well. Pretty simple actually
September 28th, 2019 at 9:21 PM ^
Guess they haven't really been tested, but this feels like the most talented OSU team yet. Just no let up. Great athletes at 22 spots.
September 28th, 2019 at 11:05 PM ^
Many in the Central Ohio area and close to OSU are saying that this is their best OL in 15 years. It all starts up front.
September 28th, 2019 at 11:13 PM ^
Did they have even one rush that was for no gain tonight? It's just silly. And it sickens my stomach.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:24 PM ^
Recruiting*
September 28th, 2019 at 9:16 PM ^
Obviously they recruit in the roughest neighborhoods
September 28th, 2019 at 11:53 PM ^
They also had Gareon Connelly go in the first round. He was originally committed to us. Malik Hooker was a 1st rounder, but I think he was a safety
September 28th, 2019 at 8:03 PM ^
We need a chase young.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:05 PM ^
Ill take a Fields as well
September 28th, 2019 at 8:24 PM ^
I feel that Chase Young is what Rashan should have been. I'm not saying Rashan was not good, because he was, but don't think he panned out as much as he could have.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:05 PM ^
OSU will destroy Nebraska.
Looking at OSU's starters, it doesn't seem like Michigan was in many head-to-head battles for most of them. Interesting.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
Depending on how much more Ruiz improves, the C/DT matchup could be a wash.
Chase Young vs. our OTs though...
September 28th, 2019 at 8:06 PM ^
damn, was hoping the Huskers could get some early momentum
September 28th, 2019 at 8:06 PM ^
It’s a joke that Fields is eligible this year.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:08 PM ^
It's actually a joke that the NCAA has a rule that you can't play the next year unless you're granted a waiver.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
That may be but with the rules as they currently are set, there is no way fields should be eligible.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:27 PM ^
Are you surprised? OSU is one of the NCAA's darling children. The NCAA wants/needs them to be good every year and will do anything it can to ensure that.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:34 PM ^
It’s bullshit that our transfer QB had to sit and their’s gets to play immediately. Oh, yeah...never mind.
September 29th, 2019 at 9:57 AM ^
but Shea getting immediate eligibility was warranted? Look, I hate it too but your comment is just stupid. Shea getting it was a little head scratching too.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
Don't worry gang. This is the year that Michigan is supposed to beat OSU! We got this...
September 28th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
Watching OSU they just look far and away better than us ... I’m not sure how they can plug and play any QB while we aren’t able to find one
September 28th, 2019 at 8:13 PM ^
A lot can happen in 8 weeks
September 28th, 2019 at 8:43 PM ^
How many weeks did Harbaugh have to prepare for Florida and the Bowl Game? How many weeks did he have to prepare this team to play for 2019? Harbaugh isn't changing anything in 8 weeks. He has shown he cannot prepare his team to play. How anyone can overlook that fact is not being objective. I don't like that fact. I so wish it wasn't true. I wish Michigan was steam rolling teams. Would be my greatest joy.
Pure and simple, Harbaugh hasn't had our team look anything like OSU. They are a freaking juggernaut. Their execution is superb. Their Talent that has been developed and utilized correctly. They recruit at a level beyond us. Harbaugh doesn't know how to put together a team like OSU.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:52 PM ^
let’s see how the offense develops going forward. I’m really interested in seeing how it performs against Iowa.
September 28th, 2019 at 11:31 PM ^
I really believe that Iowa game will make or break our season. Hopefully make it.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:54 PM ^
In response to lakeyale 13, you may want to step away for awhile.
Let’s see how Michigan performs going forward. If unc can hang with Clemson, Michigan can certainly hang with osu.
September 29th, 2019 at 9:55 AM ^
You put forward the thinking of many delusional Michigan fans. You take one crazy outlier (UNC vs. Clemson) and apply it to Michigan vs their toughest opponent. Feel free to continue in your fantastical thinking if it makes you feel better.
September 28th, 2019 at 10:15 PM ^
OSU becomes average if they lose their QB. I’m not hoping he gets hurt, but I’m not praying for his health either.
September 29th, 2019 at 9:59 AM ^
classy
September 28th, 2019 at 8:16 PM ^
One of the reasons I think switching our offense will be better for us in the long run
September 28th, 2019 at 8:25 PM ^
Agree. We’re gonna have to learn how to score often and fast. Ball control offense wasn’t working against osu and certainly won’t work this year. Let’s hope our O can improve off this week and keep improving.
Btw Indiana showed the key to playing MSU is throwing the ball. Not a lot of teams running on MSU but passing to set up the run looks like the key against them.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
This is ABC's prime time game? Really? What has Nebraska shown the last couple years to make anyone think they could make this one interesting?
September 28th, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
Scott Frost
September 28th, 2019 at 8:14 PM ^
Apparently Scott Frost going 13-0 at UCF in 2017 was the greatest coaching job in the history of sports.
I'm not sure anyone has gotten more mileage from an undefeated season in the history of college football.
And apparently some people thought Adrian Martinez as a legitimate Heisman candidate.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:17 PM ^
This is how every other team / fan in the country thinks of Michigan.
September 29th, 2019 at 12:26 AM ^
They played OSU tough last year. 35-31 and had the ball at the end of the game.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:12 PM ^
They seem to find all the quick twitch WRs that run legit 4.3 or 4.4 while we get the bigger slower WRs it shows ...We don’t have the speed in space athletes yet
September 28th, 2019 at 8:15 PM ^
I know the talk of OSU has been their offense but their D has been playing elite, MUCH better than last year.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:08 PM ^
Greg Mattison
September 29th, 2019 at 12:32 AM ^
Yep, unfortunately.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:16 PM ^
I give up (waving white flag)...
...can OSU be placed in the ACC (to give Clemson someone to play with)?
Their talent discrepancy has "jumped the shark" for the B1G
September 28th, 2019 at 8:32 PM ^
I have given up for a few years. The coaching and talent discrepancies between OSU and UM are just so vastly different. I don't think we'll be able to compete with them for a long time. I'd be fine with leaving the Big Ten at this point and never facing them again unless it's in the playoff. I'm being serious. What is the point of playing this sport if we're just going to lose to OSU every fucking season? We'll never win a national title or even get to the fucking playoff with OSU in our way.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:46 PM ^
Not only is their talent and coaching superior but we also get the distinction of being their "rival". They prepare for their rival much better than we do as well.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:09 PM ^
I feel at this point they don't need to prepare as much as they did during Tressel's era. Tressel stressed the UM game from the start. Mindset goes a long way in sports. Now, OSU is just so superior to Michigan talent- and coaching-wise that it seems their mindset doesn't need to be constantly focused on UM. They're just vastly better than UM in every aspect of the sport. This is why I just want UM to leave. Go to the Big 12 or ACC. I surrender and am fine admitting that.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:51 PM ^
Sadly I agree. The rivalry is slowly but surely turning into a Little Brown Jug situation where it’s a rivalry in name only. Where one team is so much blatantly better than the other in every aspect of the game year in and year out. Michigan can afford to go independent because so many schools would clamor to get on their schedule.
As long as we have to face OSU every year, as well as be in their same division, Michigan’s never going to even sniff the playoff. I’d rather go the ND route, go undefeated on an easy schedule and get blown out in the semis. At least even you can say you made it and had a chance to play for it all.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:13 PM ^
That's a good point. I didn't even consider the independent route. I'd be fine with that. Just be sure to never schedule OSU again. I don't care what the media, haters, or their fans would say if UM did that. I care about winning football games and getting a chance to play for a title We'll never do that with OSU this good.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
This is where Harbaugh gets a bad rap. He turned a below average B1G team into a top ten program (based on cumulative performance during his tenure). But the natives are restless since he
1) Doesn't beat OSU
2) Doesn't go to the B1G title game
3) Doesn't make playoffs.
Thing is, those are all because we aren't as good as OSU, a top three program.
September 28th, 2019 at 10:42 PM ^
Lol 1-10 vs top 10. 1-6 vs ranked teams on the road. 13-14 vs good teams.
But yeah its just beating ohio thats limiting Jimmy
September 28th, 2019 at 11:33 PM ^
One correction: 13-15 after last week.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:17 PM ^
Not sure OSU will be challenged this season before the playoffs.
Maybe Wisconsin? Maybe PSU? Maybe a Michigan playing out of their minds? Not confident in any of that.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:25 PM ^
They’re good for a midseason brain fart every year. Unfortunately we play them at the end of the year.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:33 PM ^
The Wisconsin game is in Columbus. I'll bet OSU runs 40+ on them and convincingly wins.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:26 PM ^
So is PSU. I am just hoping they are spent after that game, right before our game.
Yea, I know.....won't happen.
September 28th, 2019 at 10:19 PM ^
they have talent, size, speed... but they are not going to annihilate every team they play. Look at tonight, Clemson looked vulnerable, against an unranked I am more dreading OSU fans getting tickets in my section, I'm too old to go to jail.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:47 PM ^
Their offense is just crazy.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:18 PM ^
In Tucson for the night going to the UCLA-Arizona game. Hoping for another PAC-12 after dark stunner tonight!
September 28th, 2019 at 8:19 PM ^
What in the actual fuck was that.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:20 PM ^
OSU is a fucking machine dudes, this is not even fair
September 28th, 2019 at 8:21 PM ^
Okudah gets a pick lying on the ground. Brutal momentum killer for the Huskers after a nice drive. Dobbins has some speed, no surprise.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:22 PM ^
When does the Nebraska and OSU game start? Is there a weather delay or something?
Pretty fucking shitty for ABC to be showing a replay of "The Game" from last year!!!
September 29th, 2019 at 10:04 AM ^
this made me laugh pretty good. well done sire, sadly, well done
September 28th, 2019 at 8:22 PM ^
I'll state the obvious: OSU is going to destroy Michigan again, win the Big Ten title again, and this time get to the playoff (again). It's insane how good they are. It also pisses me the fuck off. It's probably going to be Oklahoma, Alabama, Clemson, and OSU. I obviously cannot predict the winners since I don't know the seedings.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:25 PM ^
OSU has played no one so far
September 28th, 2019 at 8:28 PM ^
We were told that about Wisconsin.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:35 PM ^
It doesn't matter. They have completely destroyed every team they have played. That is what good teams do.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:59 PM ^
What UM fan thumbs up someone stating that we will get thrashed again? This whole thread is filled with somber alcoholics.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:15 PM ^
I'm just stating the truth. How any unbiased person can think UM stands a chance is beyond my understanding.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:30 PM ^
Any given Saturday. There are tons of upsets every year in college football.
September 29th, 2019 at 8:22 AM ^
Honestly, college football has become quite boring. Same 4-6 teams at the top every year for about the last decade. It is to the point, for me at least, that my desire to watch any other game than the one in which Michigan is playing has been zapped. Go Blue!
September 28th, 2019 at 8:23 PM ^
OSU is absurdly good. Hoping Fields sucks in cold weather.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:23 PM ^
Can we tap the brakes on the frosties?
September 28th, 2019 at 8:25 PM ^
Too late, that bandwagon and train are overflowing and already left the station.
Next stop, bottom of a ravine where they can say hi to Chip Kelly and UCLA fans.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:23 PM ^
Penn St and Wisconsin can play with OSU
September 28th, 2019 at 9:07 PM ^
Penn State is going to get obliterated. Wisky'll be a good matchup.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:24 PM ^
No outhitting matters tonight.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:25 PM ^
For the last weekend in September, the night games are not inspiring.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:26 PM ^
Justin Fields is elite. If he stays healthy OSU is a CFB contender.
Clemson and Bama lookvshaky. Best two teams thus far are Oklahoma and OSU.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:44 PM ^
Gotta include UGa In there. They have the best noncon win of the season right now.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:28 PM ^
I've seen this OSU movie before... And it's depressing. Why are they always so good?
September 28th, 2019 at 8:31 PM ^
Because their players don’t have to do school and are way better than everyone else at football.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:58 PM ^
or maybe their players get real coaching?
September 28th, 2019 at 8:28 PM ^
Well at least Nebraska will out hit them.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:32 PM ^
The “Fighting Frosties” ALWAYS outhit the competition.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:30 PM ^
Not a single good game on tonight.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:33 PM ^
This is the worst Saturday night for College Football that I can remember. Every game is a blowout.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:37 PM ^
wsu vs Utah should be good later, this game sucks right now, come on huskers, make a play!
September 28th, 2019 at 8:35 PM ^
Currently watching Colorado State vs Utah State. Is there a game I should be watching that I am missing?
September 28th, 2019 at 8:39 PM ^
What a terrible throw. OSU is insanely good, but damn Nebraska sucks.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:40 PM ^
Fire Frosty
September 28th, 2019 at 8:40 PM ^
After how Nebraska has looked the last three weeks, it’s no surprise that the game looks like this so far. And believe me, it’s going to get much worse. OSU won’t put the breaks on until they have 50 points are so.
I just wish we could do this (among other things) - go on the road against a non-Rutgers opponent and look like a well oiled machine from the start. Completely take an enthusiastic crowd out of it right away.
And just as I type this, Nebraska throws another interception.
September 28th, 2019 at 8:54 PM ^
Is it really that difficult to coach a college team to execute a college playbook? Or are Harbaugh and Gattis trying to teach an NFL playbook to a college team and that's why we are always floundering. With the talent we have, we should look very similar to OSU.
September 28th, 2019 at 9:39 PM ^
With all due respect to my beloved team....even well-coached, I don't believe Michigan has the same talent level and depth as OSU. Their O and D line look absolutely ridiculous.
Super hot take but...if there was a fulcrum moment in Harbaugh's career at Michigan, it was the 2016 game at OSU. Beating OSU, in their house, was the launching pad for recruiting and a national title run. Even with the loss at Iowa, that season should have been the launching pad for improved recruiting and well....yeah...fuck that game.
September 28th, 2019 at 11:03 PM ^
They have 5 star sophomore and juniors who are backups because they recruit breadth and depth. We may have talented players but not across the board and certainly not two or 3 levels deep. You think josh metellus, Carlo Kemp, Donovan jeter, Jordan Glasgow, brad Hawkins, John runyan, Christian turner, Hassan Haskins, Sean Mckeon, even sew the field if they’re on Ohio states team? Not speaking negatively about our players but just illustrating the talent gap
