2019 Michigan Pro Day Results

Submitted by Magnus on March 15th, 2019 at 2:55 PM

Michigan had its pro day today, which included a bunch of draft-eligible players from Michigan, along with UCLA QB (and Michigan transfer) Wilton Speight.

I thought this would be a good place to share some of the results of the day, even though specific results aren't necessarily officially recognized.

Zach Gentry says he ran the 40 in the 4.6 to low 4.7 range (LINK), and a video showed him doing 14 bench press reps (LINK).

Wilton Speight says he ran a 4.79 forty.

BTW, 40 times at pro days are usually .1 to .2 seconds quicker, so he was probably in the 4.9-ish range if it was laser-timed.

I am surprised they don't make players run 40s in pads since that is how they actually play the game.  That would be a great way to test the real "football speed" that's always discussed.

From watching game film I could definitely see Denard losing less speed w/ pads on than most other guys that timed quicker but didn't seem as fast on the field.

I’d be so happy if Bush and Chase were the Steelers first two picks.

I think Gary could end up with Hurst and the Raiders

What is Herbert doing?  That's one of the worst spots I've seen in a while.  Get away from the bar until he's actually in danger of failing.  There's no way for anybody to know whether you're helping him or not if your hands are on the bar for every rep.

Also, Gentry is bouncing the bar off his chest like crazy.  He looked very uncomfortable under that weight.  And his hips came off the bench on the last rep, so he really only completed 13.

Is that herbert spotting? He needs to back off and not act like he has to spot every rep, nobody benches well with someone looking over and it's hard to tell but it looks like he's touching the bar....
