Alcohol sales at Big Ten Tourney?

Going to the game tonight...Anybody know if I’ll be drinking beer there?  Couldn’t find the answer on google.

Because adults should be trusted to be and act like adults. Especially at neutral site tournament games like this where you're completely off-campus. Besides, it's not like they wouldn't be making money off of the sales.

If you're going to a game at BYU where there is a moral code against alcohol, fine. That's one thing. Heck, I'd probably also understand if a religiously-affiliated school like BC or Gonzaga didn't want to offer alcohol sales at sporting events. But I'm with Sydney on this one. Trust that adults can act like adults, and then toss out the ones who break that trust.

I like to get a buzz on before games, but even I realize how much of a drunken shitshow the stadium is on a gameday without beer sales. The moment you start selling beer in a place like Michigan Stadium, with seating as tight as it is, bathrooms as already inadequate as they are, with an atmosphere as it already exists, before you even mix in the fact that it's going to become even worse with the meatheads getting even more drunk... Yikes.

Serious question here, although I realize its counter intuitive.... do you think Michigan stadium might actually be less of a shitshow if people could buy *beer* in the stadium, instead of slamming alcohol (especially hard liquor, which is easier to slam) before they enter?

I think if the vendors/security were pretty strict about not serving/and or kicking out people acting stupid, this may actually decrease how many people are hammered in the stadium.  In many cases people would get cutoff of beer instead of just slamming a few extra shots of hard liquor, or tossed trying to buy more if they're belligerent.

But then, people could also buy alcohol.  In the stadium.  So maybe my theory is too crazy to be real?

I don't think Michigan Stadium is really a shitshow right now, but I do think it would be significantly more so with alcohol sold during the game.

People are going to tailgate before the games; that's an ingrained part of football culture (pro and college).  At pro games people simply are able to keep their buzz going by steadily drinking during the game.

Someone on Reddit said they called the United Center ticket office and was told that booze was being sold. Maybe try a forum for one of the teams that's already played.

There is no notes or FAQ answers on their website that would indicate they are not selling beer, and they are prominently advertising their "Food and Beverage" options with no indication that only certain vendors will be open.

My guess is that booze is a go this year.

I disagree, I like it.  I regularly drink alcohol and am not against drinking.  However, I greatly enjoy the atmosphere of games without drinking as opposed to those with drinking.  I find the fans are much more engaged in the event and much less likely to start fights.  One of many reasons I prefer college games.
