B1G Tournament Day 2 Open Thread (Evening Games)
Penn State vs Minnesota and Illinois vs Iowa. Penn State could pull this off and I think Iowa smokes Illinois. But what do I know? I predicted Nebraska to lose today.
Penn State is favored by three in Vegas and similarly by Kenpom. Nebraska, that is something crazy. Watching everybody dance on Tim miles’ grave has been fascinating for these last several weeks, and he just refuses to die. A fresh Wisconsin team will probably have little trouble disposing of them tomorrow, but I thought the same thing about Rutger and Maryland.
They have really come to life in the tournament. It’s kind of sad for them since they fell apart mid-season.
I agree. I have been cheering for them, especially after the Copeland injury, but there has not been much to cheer about.
Looks like Texas Tech is going down to the worst team in the Big 12
Currently, I am watching Minnesota / Penn State, but admittedly, I will switch to Duke / Syracuse at 9 PM, even if it is only to watch for the other shoe to drop.
I will show myself out after that last line.
You are right, and you are also Jay Bilas
Worst no call I've seen in a Looooong time in the Minny PSU game. Jeezus
MOAR reviews!!!

Yeah at some point the referee’s autonomous judgement needs to be upheld. I say give the coaches a challenge or two and then leave the rest up to the refs. At any point a ref is typically with 10 ft of the point of play and should have a reasonable decision within seconds of the play.
Big result in the Big 12. Texas Tech, our rival on Bracket Matrix goes down to... last place West Virginia.
Guess that’s why they call it March Madness.
Surprised WV won it after losing a 7 point lead late .
Guess I wont be watching Iowa over dinner break, christ. So much fucking review, we're not even watching basketball.
Is anyone else sad to see Archie "Spartan Slayer" Miller eliminated? I was hoping to see them go 3-0 against MSU but I guess it just wasn't in the cards.
Give me Iowa, Purdue, and MSU for a BTT title shot and a chance at the highest 2 seed pending other results.

I like your optimism.... right now Iowa 68, Illinois 47. Up 20 with 8 to go.
It's a peppy Thursday night, what with BB, tennis, and tornadoes.
Actually I'm going to bed
Zion with a huge uncalled travel.

As long as Duke stays healthy, the tournament may really even be over before it starts.
I’m probably being dramatic but talent-wise, Duke is head and shoulders above everyone else in America. Gonzaga was lucky to catch them early, Syracuse got to face them when Barrett was out, and UNC and VaTech got a gift from the gods with getting to face a Zion-less Duke.
UNC will probably lose by at least 10 if they should happen to meet Duke again.

Duke certainly will have the edge talent-wise over most, if not all, of their opponents. But there’s a lot of the other factors during the start of NCAA tourney where talent gets trumped by experience, hot-shooting, fouls called, etc...

Point guard play, turning the ball over 10 times in a half...

This is an atrocious basketball game.

Pat Chambers to return next year for PSU.

Iowa is a tough matchup. They have lots of scorers and can stretch your D. Don’t really wanna play them again. They should have finished the season better, they got pretty decent talent & deep.

I’m having a hard time seeing us getting by Iowa. Think we’re the better team but just not in the cards. Hope I’m wrong:/

Iowa shooting well from outside. Hopefully they run out of energy by tomorrow night. BEAT IOWA!!
March 14th, 2019 at 11:24 PM ^
Uggg, Iowa looking good.
March 14th, 2019 at 11:26 PM ^
I want revenge on Iowa!!
March 14th, 2019 at 11:38 PM ^
They're gonna be cocky and confident after their win tonight and the win against us already.... Plus Chicago being close to Iowa.... sounds like their fans are representing. Late Friday night party in the Windy City.
GO BLUE!!!
(I'm nervous)

Looks like Iowa has recovered from their 4 game skid which included loses to OSU, Rutgers, and Nebraska.
Shooting lights-out tonight.

That's right Iowa, use it all up tonight!
March 14th, 2019 at 11:57 PM ^
Gonna be a good game! No easy outs in tourney time...
March 15th, 2019 at 12:07 AM ^
Teams we have beaten in the BTT in the last two years:
Purdue: with Edwards and Edwards, Swanigan and Haas
Wisconsin: with Haap, Hayes, and Koenig
MSU: with Winston, Bridges, and Jackson
Purdue: Edwards, Edwards, Mathias, and Haas
Beilein is a master in this tournament. We have nothing to worry about with Iowa, or Purdue/Minnesota. We will get a third shot at Sparty and win. And then have a favorable chance to make the Final Four again.

Worst case scenario. Iowa wins, their starters get hot in this arena but get plenty of rest.
True...
Come to think of it, not a bad thing either.
They need to change something about all these "ref reviews" at the very least make the teams go to the opposite free throw lines (away from their coaches) damn they are getting 5+ free times outs per game
Plus a good chunk of the reviews (in all sports) are called incorrectly ,so why have them
Man, Iowa curb stomped Illinois.
