High school Hockey playoff weekend.
Huge in Minn, so no one at game.
It's way beyond that. Here was my response to Brian:
I was at the Friday regular season game at Mariucci. More people than this, but... as sparse as I have ever seen Mariucci by some distance. The same people who could be barely bothered to come when they already had tickets just aren't shelling out when they have to pay extra.
The last B1G tournament at the X was predictive, in retrospect. It was in the cities, literally minutes from Mariucci. Minnesota was there, and had a good team that had already won a banner at that.
Nobody came. I went to the UM-PSU game and the place was a tomb; few showed up late for Minnesota to play. Apathy is a thing.
I went to the Saturday game at MN this year and although not sold out it was pretty full. Very into the game as well.
So far U-M not doing a good job of not making it a special teams battle like Mel wanted.
