AMAIZE-ing come from behind win last night, with some real gritty goals. But Hughes getting the first goal on the 5-on-3 PP at the end of the 2nd period with 2 seconds left was very important. U-M gave up the first goal of the 3rd, but then scored 3 unanswered for the win.

Of course getting the sweep will be tough, but would be oh so sweet.

From Al's pregame interview, Mel said they need to have a better start - start on time. The coaches were concerned about the layoff and the team being rusty, and it showed. Stay on the ice, don't get involved with the rivalry stuff. And play with urgency, like they did in the 3rd period last night.

Yost may not be exactly what it used to be, but I can say this: I went to Mariucci a few weeks ago, and I just attended a game at Amsoil Arena between defending national champion UMD and top ten conference rival Denver.

And Yost is, still, always, just on another level. Just the tinny sound of the chants on the tv broadcast is so much more activity than UMD, for example, ever gets. It's a different world.

And that's not to say that I didn't have a good time at the UMD game, because I did. Great arena. But if you want atmosphere, Yost is still the place to be.
