Loeffler is getting the whole band back together.
Terry Malone, Erik Campbell, Kevin Tolbert and now Jim Herrmann. Let's how it works out.
February 21st, 2019 at 1:57 PM ^
Well, seeing as how the year is still 1999, it should work out just swell.
February 21st, 2019 at 3:43 PM ^
It is still 1999 in bowling green Ohio. It hasn’t changed much.
February 21st, 2019 at 4:08 PM ^
It’s 1999 and Keith Jackson is still alive!!
Go Blue!!
February 21st, 2019 at 4:59 PM ^
Whoa Nellie!
February 21st, 2019 at 5:58 PM ^
BG is nice... if you like living on a freeway.
February 21st, 2019 at 2:03 PM ^
Yeah but is he on a mission from God?
February 22nd, 2019 at 8:01 AM ^
Getting the band back together? Where's Blue Lou?
February 21st, 2019 at 2:01 PM ^
This is crazy enough it might just work in the MAC.
February 21st, 2019 at 2:05 PM ^
We can laugh all we want but it is actually a decent staff for Bowling Green. If Loeffler can manage to put together a couple of 9-3 type seasons, he will be at Rutgers, Illinois, Vanderbilt, or the like in a couple of years.
February 21st, 2019 at 2:19 PM ^
Hell, hes already selling t shirts in Ohio...
February 21st, 2019 at 3:19 PM ^
I'm hip to most of the inside jokes on the blog but this one managed to slip by me. Can someone enlighten me so I can laugh too?
February 21st, 2019 at 4:06 PM ^
Post from Hokes first year. Someone said "he's turning the rivalry around. Hell, I haven't seen UM jerseys sold in OH in years. People here are buying them."* and got a million billion re-posts.
*the exact text escapes me. Someone will correct this shortly.
February 21st, 2019 at 4:32 PM ^
Thanks. Appreciate the explanation.
February 21st, 2019 at 4:57 PM ^
Here's the exact text because it still sparks joy to this day. Oh and this was a sextuple post which just made it better.
I think Hoke has changed the tide on the rivalry. Hell people in Ohio are starting to believe him. Never in a million years I would have thought that. Selling Michigan jerseys is a good start.
February 21st, 2019 at 2:24 PM ^
...and then back in the MAC a couple years after that.
February 21st, 2019 at 5:34 PM ^
9-3 means he basically had to go undefeated in conference or at most lose 1 game for three years in a row.
February 21st, 2019 at 2:07 PM ^
None of the Michigan connections matter, he hired Van Gorder as the DC. They'll be a shit show on that side of the ball by the middle of year 2 or earlier.
February 21st, 2019 at 2:13 PM ^
Still hard to stomach that he was DC of Notre Dame when our shutout streak ended.
February 21st, 2019 at 3:56 PM ^
Thanks Hoke!
February 21st, 2019 at 7:34 PM ^
Hoke didn't correct the situation that Rich Rod left him with zero quarterbacks after Denard Robinson. Brian Kelly said the year before that he overestimated Michigan's offense (as in there was no QB) which set the table to not worry about the passing game and thus the shutout.
February 21st, 2019 at 6:05 PM ^
Loeffler hired Jim Hermann so he will have an experienced DC on the staff when he fires VanGorder.
February 21st, 2019 at 2:24 PM ^
BGSU needs more Ron English.
February 22nd, 2019 at 12:32 AM ^
And Fred Jackson.
February 21st, 2019 at 2:38 PM ^
Seems like a pretty good staff, except Tolbert.
February 21st, 2019 at 2:47 PM ^
Are they all going bowling?
February 21st, 2019 at 6:36 PM ^
Maybe not, but the school does have a nice rec building where you can go curling!
February 22nd, 2019 at 7:54 AM ^
They've really fixed that place up since I left 15 years ago! Some buildings were crumbling when I was there lol.
February 21st, 2019 at 3:11 PM ^
Aside from Campbell, I think those hires are uninspiring.
Especially at the MAC level, I think it would make sense to look more at up-and-coming types rather than relative retreads.
February 22nd, 2019 at 7:53 AM ^
Yeah I hear you. From a grad perspective who is a big BG football fan secondary, of course, to UM it feels a little "blah". Cool in a sense but if I didn't love UM honestly I wouldn't be all that excited.
February 21st, 2019 at 3:31 PM ^
I hope they don't schedule Youngstown State.
February 21st, 2019 at 3:37 PM ^
Soup Campbell will always be a good hire for wide receivers coach.
February 21st, 2019 at 4:16 PM ^
Unless he's extra chunky.
February 21st, 2019 at 5:36 PM ^
You mean extra gravy?
February 21st, 2019 at 9:38 PM ^
Not in a can.
February 21st, 2019 at 5:15 PM ^
New team to root for.
Go Bowling Green
February 21st, 2019 at 6:31 PM ^
I'm really hoping this is an absolute success. MAC title and a New Year's six bowl game.
February 21st, 2019 at 8:39 PM ^
What about Draper??
February 21st, 2019 at 9:01 PM ^
Welp, I’m off to google to see where the fuck Jim Hermann has been hiding for the past decade...
February 21st, 2019 at 9:06 PM ^
February 21st, 2019 at 10:16 PM ^
I know that Loeffler is "our guy" and was Brady's QB coach, but is there any evidence that he's good at anything beyond that? Looking at the S&P stats, he's coordinated the following offenses:
#70 in 2011 (Temple)
#61 in 2012 (Auburn)
#77 in 2013 (VTech)
#86 in 2014 (VTech)
#56 in 2015 (VTech)
#117 in 2016 (BC)
#89 in 2017 (BC)
#88 in 2018 (BC)
All signs point toward the guy being kind of a crappy coordinator. It's weird that someone offered him a head coaching job with that resume.
February 22nd, 2019 at 8:31 AM ^
Winner.
Great qb coach. Marginal coordinator.
February 22nd, 2019 at 7:51 AM ^
It should be interesting. I loved BG and had a great time pursuing my undergraduate studies that that fine institution. I hope the falc shit up and win some games and all that jazz.
Kidding aside this really should be interesting. BG, like most MAC schools, gets a good coach and some key recruits and lights it up 2-4 years then dies...and the death is usually a hard one lol.
I was there during undergrad and working as an ATC with football when Meyer was there (I left dec 2004). Couldn't stand meyer but hell of an experience.
I'll probably head up to a game or two this year hope they do well.
February 22nd, 2019 at 7:57 AM ^
You kinda wonder what happens to some of these assistant coaches , they seem to fall off the map and than reappear again from no where !
