Purdue at Indiana tonight

Purdue at Indiana, 7 PM EST on ESPN2

Figured some may be interested in watching this game because of the implications.  Michigan, MSU and Purdue are all tied for first in big ten.  Michigan State just lost a main player in Ward, potentially providing Michigan the edge between those two teams.

We really need Purdue to lose a game or two down the stretch to give us some margin of error.  Tonight in Indiana's arena offers a chance.

Below are the MSU, Michigan and Purdue remaining schedules with the Torvik estimated win probabilities. People think Purdue has the best shot because they do.

Edit, if you assume the individual game probabilities are independent (they aren't because of injuries and other things), then the chances of winning out are 15.4% for MSU, 6.4% for us, and 15.9% for Purdue. Also I noticed Torvik is predicting 16-4 for MSU, which doesn't follow from their own probabilities. He probably hasn't updated or something. Also Ward's loss isn't reflected in those.

I really think Purdue is just going to sail in at this point. Michigan pooped their pants in the loss to PSU. Not the end of the world, but no way will Purdue lose. Or, even if they do, it is asking a huge amount for Michigan to win out.

Not quite as important but still interesting is Maryland at Iowa. Can Maryland get off the mat and win on the road or will Iowa prevail and if so what sort of ridiculous finish will they order up?

PSU also hosts Nebraska and for face-saving sake it would be nice if the Lions could finish the regular season with some wins.

Both my parents are IU grads - they hate Purdue with a passion. IU will bring it tonight and I think there's a good chance they win.

Basically the key is to play lockdown D on Edwards because he will shoot it regardless. If they do that, they can pull it off

They both hated Mark and my mom and her friend's convinced her to break up with him because he was a loser (lol). He was an asshole back then but with no money. Although he did get a loan and opened the best bar on campus (was an early adopter to the mechanical bull fad) which was subsequently shut down because a 16 year old won a wet t shirt contest

This game shaping up to be one of those classic 45-42 freshmen games.  Normally, you'd applaud the effort of the players because they're 14.  But these guys are old enough to fight for their country so we're just going to point and laugh.

Atmosphere aside, tonight is a great example of how superior NBA is to CBB.

I love both but good god this is some atrocious basketball

Up til now Edwards cannot buy a bucket. You know if this is at all close he hits a huge bucket down the stretch.

Hoosiers can really help us with a win here.
