WBB wins in Champaigne against Illinois 70-56 for their sixth win in a row. It puts them at 18-9 overall and 9-6 in B1G play. We are currently 1/2 game ahead of N’W for 4th place. The Wildcats play Purdue tonight so we may still be in a tie for 4th at the end of the day.

Thome led the team with 14 points, while Church and Brown had 12 and 11.

While Illinois is terrible, this is an important win because a loss would severely affect our at large chances. The rest of the schedule is as follows: 23 Rutgers, @24 MSU (who is currently losing @Nebraska) and Wisconsin. The last is a game much like today - win or have a big knock on your resume. We probabaly have to split Rutgers/MSU to feel comfortable heading into the conference tournament. Do that and one win in the tourney should be enough to get in.

To be fair, only the Iowa win (who beat Maryland by double digits today) is an impressive victory. The other five wins were against the teams in the bottom five spots in the conference standings. Those are expected wins and if we had lost any of them, an at large spot would be very difficult to achieve

"You have to win the games you're expected to win" - I hear that all the time from coaches.  To your point, not taking care of business the last six games would punch our ticket to the NIT.

Congrats to our Wolverines on the win streak and fourth place in the standings.  I saw that on the BTN ticker and was pleasantly surprised.

Also Women's lacrosse is now 4-0  after a freezing 11-10 OT victory over Dartmouth on their home frozen turf (game was delayed over an hour to try to de-ice the south end of the field).
