CLEVELAND | Ole Miss picked up its final piece of NCAA punishment, and it has a significant effect on the Rebels' record book.

Ole Miss, because of ineligible player participation, vacates all wins from 2010 (four wins), 2011 (two), 2012 (seven) and 2016 (five). All wins other than the Music City Bowl from 2013 (seven wins) must be vacated, as well as all wins from 2014 except for the Presbyterian game (eight wins).

VACATED WINS

2010: Tulane, Fresno State, Kentucky, ULL

2011: Southern Illinois, Fresno State

2012: Central Arkansas, UTEP, Auburn, Tulane, Arkansas, Mississippi State, Pittsburgh

2013: Vanderbilt, Southeast Missouri, LSU, Texas, Idaho, Arkansas, Troy

2014: Boise State, Vanderbilt, ULL, Memphis, Alabama, Texas A&M, Mississippi State, Tennessee

2016: Wofford, Georgia, Memphis, Georgia Southern, Texas A&M

Tulane (2x), ULL (2x), Southern Illinois, Central Arkansas, UTEP, SE Missouri, Idaho, Troy, Wofford, Georgia Southern.

Yep, SEC plays the toughest schedules in the country.

I remember Amaker sheduled Wofford in basketball. I had no idea they actually had a football team.

Also, I realize Bruce Magdi created the term "vacate" regarding wins during the Fab 5 era, but vacating a win is still ridiculous. That excludes Penn St. Their fans went apesh*t over losing those wins. That was fun to watch.

Maybe it is just me, but vacating wins always seemed like one of the most hollow punishments that could be levied against a team. You cannot, after all, unplay all those games and you know how they turned out, so it seems like that, even symbolically, it does little to nothing other than add a smidgen of gratuitous shame to anything more impactful.

They played Presbyterian?  I never knew you could play a denomination.

SEC non-conference is a joke.  B1G should refuse to play them unless they travel up here.  Doesn't even need to be on-campus.  There are plenty of NFL stadiums up this way.

Speaking of "Calvin", here's what President Calvin Coolidge had to say about the sport:

President Calvin Coolidge (1923-1929): Having never played football, Calvin Coolidge appreciated the traits instilled in the men who served in his administration who had played the game. “I have had in my Cabinet four great football guards. In fact, wherever I turn in Washington I meet officials who once were famous players. They tell me that this characteristic runs all through public life in the state, county and municipal governments."

So in honor of President's Day, I'd say  ol' Calvin got it right.

(edit: obviously the above is not a clickable link, but I don't know how to fix it)

(edit #2: I meant to make that a reply to Quailman. Oops!

At the end of the day does it really hurt them if they vacate them or not?  IMO this penalty is worthless and has very little impact on their program.  Reducing scholarship limits and banning them from Bowl games really hurts a program much more.

Ahh, but the NCAA did come down on Notre Dame and Ohio State for being big ugly cheaters.

Remember that ND had 21 wins vacated from 2012-2013 due to academic misconduct and OSU had 12 games vacated from 2010 due to ineligible players.

You can throw in 29 vacated wins for Alabama, 13 for USC and 12 for Florida State.

Historical wins don't matter to these schools. Winning at all costs matters.

Two interesting things here. One, two of these seasons covers Houston Nutt. So, not only did he come back and take down hugh, but he also ended up costing them wins. Great job hiring coaches, ole miss. Two, all this controversy at ole miss and they still end up with a nearly top 20 recruiting class with 31 players. There are just so many players in Mississippi and the south that getting players is so damn easy, no matter what you do.

They should take the NCAA to court over this.  It worked for those pedophile enabling apologists and delusional JoePa worshiping fucktards at Penn State.
