1. Wisconsin with a W
starts at 1:00
Happ can’t get a foul called on him. Brad Davison has changed block/charge calls in the Big Ten. Happ got worn down after 60 percent usage—beat up Teske then couldn’t even push X around late. Michigan’s defense was amazing. First reason Michigan won was Teske, second was Matthews making shots late. Iggy has an allergy to Wisconsin. Haven’t talked about the Teske re-screen in a while.
2. Rutgers with an S
starts at 31:20
They’re not bad: we’d take Baker and Omoruyi, and maybe three or four backup centers. Michigan made their free throws. Rutgers offense is terrible. The pick and pop is great but needs to stop ending with Iggy misses. Brian’s cheezed off that Gonzaga is a 1 seed. Someone would like to destroy your sweater.
3. Football: The New Coaches, New Offense
starts at 46:50
Second straight year Michigan oversigned their coaches and had to slow-motion process a guy. Aside about Drevno. How much of a problem was Pep? How much is Harbaugh going to hand over the offense to Gattis? Buggy Rugs. Throw the ball, and throw it off our run action please.
4. Hockey and USA Soccer
starts at 1:08:05
The icers finally swept a series. If they can sweep Ohio State and Notre Dame to finish the season they might earn a playoff seed? Gotta win the BTT too. Yeah, it’s a longshot. USA soccer did something other than make Americans miserable for the first time in two years. What’s next, and can they build a 4-3 under defense (?!?) out of players who could play in Europe?

I could tell from your tweet about this that you were pretty upset about it.

Speaking of Weezer... SNL had a pretty great sketch recently revolving Weezer and what is and isn't good.

That is a really funny scene. I recommend it to all.

The best bit is that it's clear that this started as an argument between two writers and they were like, "ya know what...?"

He goes "Oh, it looks like we got a purist in the house."
Great stuff.

That was damn funny! Not to be too hipster but nice to see SNL do something funny still/again.

My SNL Hot-take?
SNL has never been as good as people remember it being, no matter how old they are or what they remember as great. People are remembering the best of compilations and not whole episodes. An average episode of SNL is 8 mins of musical acts, 10 mins of weekend update, and 50 mins of bad to meh sketches, with 1 or 2 good sketches thrown in. Sometimes those good sketches are transcendent and those are the ones we remember. Even more rarely entire episodes will flip the good to bad ratio.
Recent SNL even has it's own examples of great episodes. John Mulaney's and Chance the Rapper's episodes for example are great start to finish

It seems to have reached some sort of Nickelback-esque level where people just love to dump on it. (Disclaimer: Nickelback totally deserves it all). And I kinda get it, because there are a lot of great cast members the show has lost and had to replace. It's not the same as it used to be.
But that doesn't mean it's bad. It still has plenty of pretty funny material. The music videos are usually pretty entertaining. Weekend update with Jost and Che is the best its been since Tina Fey was on it. I still enjoy it. There are some truly awful episodes every now and then (you can usually tell if the first skit is bad), but I'm sure that was true back then too.

Nice to see us Ride or Die for Weezer guys recognized...

I know it's still early, but I agree that Gonzaga should not be a 1 seed. Saint Mary's is bad and San Francisco is just ok. Gonzaga's OOC schedule was good, but that shouldn't be enough to make them a 1 seed if you are really considering the "entire body of work".

Would have enjoyed a more substantive discussion of those AAF rules, which I think are interesting. Oh well.
February 11th, 2019 at 10:06 AM ^
Yeah, I wish Brian wouldn't just steamroll any topic he personally isn't interested in. For a guy who not only complains about rules but frequently specifies changes he'd like to see, I don't know why a discussion of how a different set of rules worked in practice seemed so ridiculous.

I think there are some positions he has long held that he has come to realize are not always supported or possible and he does not want to double back on long held positions.

Given the Running Back depth chart, why aren't we talking about Michael Barrett there?
IIRC he was an option QB in High School and that seems to translate to running back the best it seems to me.
I am sure there is some info I am missing but this feels like a potential solve.

He was moved around last year and at one point was repping at Viper. I don't remember if he was ever moved back to offense or not.
