Hub is late calling in so they're filling time waiting for him to call. So you can still hear the whole thing if he ever calls in.

Back in 2016 i ran into Phil heading into one the Cavs finals games against the Warriors.  I am the same age as him so we were at Mich the same years.  I yelled out "Phil-Go Blue" and he yelled Go Blue right back.

So he and i sang the Victors in the concourse of Quicken Loans arena and my wife filmed the whole thing!

Great, great guy.

Phil is a great guy. Lived on my hall freshman year in West Quad, along with Alan Hardy, Tommy Staton and Bobby Jones (who later transferred to Tulane).

Phil was great for Michigan, won a gold medal on the 1976 Olympic team. Unfortunately he blew out his knee the next summer playing in the World University Games.

He was and assistant coach for Eddie Jordan and the Wizzards. I ran into him at Dulles Airport in about 2005 as he was on his way to AA for the ND game. After that he always got me and my kids tickets when the Wizards came to Denver (where I live).

Class act all the way. Can't wait to download the podcast.

Tom Staton once baited an inbounder on the other team to pass him the ball while clapping his hands and calling for the ball, cannot find a video of it.

Alan Hardy was a part time player at Michigan who went to play in the NBA.

Hubbard’s career was really affected negatively by his knee injury. He did not look like much but could play.

Alan Hardy started every game his junior year, and started 16 games his senior year but was still 4th in minutes played. More than a part-timer I'd say.

Alan and Tommy were both great guys as well, they were right across the hall from me at West Quad. I remember they had to swap out the beds because they weren't long enough.

If Hubbard and the rest of the team didn't have the bad luck timing of having Bobby Knight's legendary 32-0 team in their way, they very probably would have won Michigan's first national championship in basketball.

Phil Hubbard was a mainstay of the Michigan basketball team when I first started following them when I was in high school.  Those two seasons 75/76 and 76/77 were amazing for a small, scrappy team.  Hubbard was the "giant" at 6-7 and only a freshman in 75/76.  But he played much bigger than his size and age those seasons.  In the spring of 1977, which was my senior year of high school, they were ranked #1 in the country much of the time.  However, they met an early exit in the NCAA tournament from UNC Charlotte.  After that year, the program seemed to fall into a down period until the 80's when Frieder was able to bring in some better players.

How would Phil's career have looked like minus the injury? It was pretty bad.

Green/Grote/Robinson/Britt/Hubbard. That was fun basketball. Racehorse basketball.
