Hope the good people of DC enjoy watching two runs up the middle, an incomplete pass followed by a punt.

I actually hope he does well there. Good luck, Pep.

Eh, sounds like an interesting move for a guy clearly struggling to find a landing spot. Hope it works out for him.

Yeah he’s made money,  but with this move his credibility as a viable football coach is on life support.  Personally I put profesional and personal respect over cold hard cash, but I get the need to put food on the table.  I’d imagine he won’t be seeing the types of contracts anymore...it wasn’t a good move by Coach to pay him that much as it didn’t seem as though people were beating down the doors for his services.  In short he wasn’t/isn’t a very good football coach and was over his head.

In the pecking order of desirable coaching jobs, where will the XFL (and other minor pro football leagues) ultimately end up? Obviously some guys are college guys for life, for various reasons, but for the most part the NFL is the top, then college, then everything else. Is there a chance that significant coaching talent goes to the XFL to be HC/GM instead of assistants in college/NFL? Not sure the money/prestige will be there, and the player talent obviously won't be compared to the NFL. It will be interesting to see if college coaching jobs stay categorically ahead of the XFL, or if more guys like Pep take it as an opportunity to run their own show.

Pep has been looking for work for 2 straight offseasons now. I think he became uncomfortably aware how much his services are (un)wanted at the NFL/NCAA level.

If he wanted anything more than a positional coach this may have been his only option.

The best coaches will stay in the NFL/college.

I probably won't watch it.  Or the AFL for that matter.  I love football but don't want it all year long.  It's that big hunger that builds up over the Winter, Spring and Summer that makes College football so great.

I also thought the XFL would want some flash and innovation with its offense, so I'm not sure this is a good hire.

Well, Stoops is coming out of retirement to coach there.  Maybe some other high profile coaches & players will make the league much more atractive & successful...

Pep...took the blame for the offense but was Pep the problem?

If Michigan offense look the same this fall do we blame Gattis or Harbaugh?

good luck Pep!

Gotta think that anyone getting the call to coach in the XFL (for the Lions or Browns, as well) would be like Lou Brown getting the call to manage the Cleveland Indians, while he’s working at the tire shop.

From the hindsight is 100% contacts, he was never in the plan for 2019. I am not sure if I truly believe that or not? It took way too long to figure that out if that was truly the case.

I thought we may have had a 2018 2.0 situation on our hands and he would still be with us in 2019. He looked around last year and was close to leaving. After seeing where he ended up, I am fairly certain he did have a nudge.
