OT: Willie Taggart hasn't signed a single QB in 2 years

“We have a plan, I think a pretty good plan,” Taggart said. “I don't necessarily want to discuss it right now, but I think we've got a pretty good plan of where we want to go."

Strange for someone that is a former quarterback. What could this foolproof plan be?!

You're crapping on the guy for kicking Francois off the team?  You have no idea what happened - nobody does, it wasn't released!  By news accounts, though, whatever happened was Francois' THIRD run in with domestic violence of some flavor.  Taggart tossed him when it was reported.  If you think Taggart doesn't understand what happened regarding all three issues, then please explain why.  I'll take Taggart's belief that Francois needed to leave before I'll harass him for that decision.

As for QB recruiting, I have no idea what's going on.  Clearly, he missed on the one guy he was recruiting, and seems to have recruited nobody else.  I think we agree that is a problem that could cost him a job if his 'good plan' doesn't work out...

All that aside, I think Taggart needs a couple more years to get that program going.  He walked into a situation similar to what Rich Rod walked into - a pro-styled team that was more depleted than anyone thought it was, and having to change it over to a spread-type offensive scheme.  Where Taggart diverges from Rich Rod is that he actually cares about defense.  I still think he'll be okay, if given the chance to convert the team into what he wants it to be.

Unless he's changed his comment, you are WAY out of line here. His comment is football oriented, that he just kicked one of the qb's with experience off the team and hasn't recruited one for two years. That's it. I didn't see anything crapping on him for kicking Francois of the team.

"What could this foolproof plan be?" reads a little snarky to me, too, skeptical if I place a less judgemental spin on it. But a legitimate question, because Taggart's response is evasive.

Taggart has had some bad luck, and the football program, it turns out, was a cesspool here in Tallahassee. He had no choice but dismiss Francis; in fact, it may not have BEEN Taggarts's choice. Especially given what FSU saw with another celebrated QB.

Coaches need more time than they often get in high-pressure situations like this, but I'll be surprised if Taggart gets a third year should things continue to suck this year.

Apparently, one guy flipped to UNC in December. Another guy committed to Ole Miss on Monday, and a third guy picked Maryland over FSU on signing day. Maryland had just offered him last week.

"FSU has one scholarship quarterback available to contribute in 2019."

How are they set for running backs? If they have a plethora then maybe we can trade. It would mean a cut in pay to don the maize and blue instead of garnet and gold, but at least you get snow days.

We know better than many other P5 programs what can happen when your QB recruiting falters for even a season. Even with a healthy influx of transfer QBs, we've seen the bumps in the road. FSU is going to be in a big hole in a few years

Maybe Taggart's secret plan is to rely on a talented but much older walk-on you may have heard of: Uncle Rico, who I bet can still throw a football over the mountains surrounding FSU.

He's planning on putting 11 offensive tackles on the field. Basically the equivalent of flooding the zone with the fat guys on Nintendo Ice Hockey.
