Is anyone selling their IU tickets?

Submitted by Go_Blue2 on January 23rd, 2019 at 3:23 PM

I am wanting to take my 4 year old daughter to her first Michigan game. It’s been so much fun watching games with her this season and I really think she would enjoy a live game. Her favorite player is Eli because “he wears pink shoes”, but John is a close second!

Anyone looking to offload two tickets? I’ve looked on stub hub but the current tickets available aren’t that great. Thanks for the consideration andGo Blue!

It's a great sentiment and I took my daughters to a handful of games at that age. Unfortunately, they don't remember anything. And we usually arrived late and left early. My girls pulled memories of games they attended starting around 8 years old.

My only point - don't spend $$ on premium seats because the experience may be lost. Just my $0.02 cents.

I concur. 4 is a bit young. I mean, if you want to, knock yourself out. But you'll be spending a lot for an experience your daughter might not enjoy as much as you'd expect.

I took my oldest daughter to a football game for the first time when she was 6. We had fun, but I had to be cool with her playing around, enjoying popcorn more than the game, etc. It was at Minnesota, which allowed things to be more laid back; Assembly Hall will not be laid back.

Good luck on your search.  I've been following StubHub quite closely and while the tickets still aren't that great, they've come down a ton in price (those fees are stupid high though).  This'll be my first game there but several IU friends have recommended against the upper level, apparently they're unnervingly steep (I imagine might not be the best scenario for a 4yo).  I ended up finding tickets on Craigslist (at least I hope I did and there aren't 14 other people out there with my same electronic ticket), those have come down a bit and I've seen a couple in the lower level for ~$70-90, not exactly cheap, but better than stubhub.  A number of them are selling locally in Bloomington, so you could conceivably pick them up in person rather than taking the electronic gamble that I did.  If you want to go behind enemy lines, their 247 sports site has a ticket exchange message board and while those have been sporadically popping up, in general they've seemed better than the StubHub options.  Good luck!

I live within walking distance of Assembly Hall. Please don't take your 4-year-old to an IU B10 MBB game while rooting for the visiting team. The environment can be hostile and yes the stairs are steep (but our local emergency room lawyer did donate rails recently!). When s/he is older, the under 4 timeout show is worth the trip. Football is an entirely different story, FYI. Also, if anyone is looking to sell for cheap, let me know. I'm an IU faculty member (UM alum), but always forget to get season tickets that I can scalp.

Kookie, given your local knowledge, can you share the best place to park?  I'll be going with my dad who doesn't get around particularly well so I was hoping to pay to park at one of the close lots. How early should I get there?

On a related note, how bad should I anticipate getting hassled wearing UofM gear (interesting side note, I'm also a UofM alum/IU faculty)?  On a scale of 1 to 10, one being a football game at Northwestern, 10 being a football game in Columbus after the porta-potties have filled as have all the coolers, what should I expect for Assembly Hall?

Here is the parking map. https://tickets.iuhoosiers.com/sports/2018/8/23/simon-skjodt-assembly-hall-gameday-traffic-and-parking.aspx?id=26 Since you probably have an IU parking pass, you might want to try getting there a tad early (30-45 mins) and grabbing a spot in the Briscoe/McNutt lot. It will probably be closer and free. On hostility, probably a 5 (in the faculty section) to a 7 (in the balcony) since the fan base seems pretty demoralized ATM. If we were in the best Crean years, probably more of a 7-9. From what I've heard/seen, IU/Kentucky probably matches peak Columbus. There is a reason why Calipari ended the series.

Thanks for the tips! Unfortunately my parking is an IUPUI pass on account of being up at the med school in Indy, but I don't mind getting there a bit early and paying for one of those lots.  That's interesting about the IU/Kentucky rage, I knew they were rivals but didn't grasp the intensity.  I'm banking on the hope that losing 5 in a row will get them to simmer down a bit, guess we'll see!
