I thought this excerpt was interesting:

By the way, a bit off topic, but do you think Simpson could turn into Eric Snow and get a cup of coffee in the league.  Seems like a lot of similarities, good floor leader/defense, 50% FT shooter in College...  I guess the 3 inches difference is the killer (and the fact that today's NBA doesn't value defense as much...)

The NBA certainly does value defense.  That's why 3 and D guys are so valuable.  The league just makes it tough for anyone to play elite defense with their rules.

But the answer to your question is no, barring a miraculous revelation in his shooting ability, he won't make the NBA.  His problem, that Eric Snow didn't have to deal with, is that there are lots of PGs now that are really good shooters and some of them are good defenders so those are the few that will make it.  In Snow's day, not a lot of PGs could shoot all that well.  It wasn't asked of them.

PGs have evolved like short stops in baseball.  Short stops used to only need to have one skill, and that was defense.  Now you pretty much need to be a HR hitter as a short stop.  Well, you also have to be a 3pt shooter as a PG.
