Good for Chris he's going to be great here.

Also noticed Lance Dixon at #13 overall and Logan Brown at #7 overall in the Top 247. Two huge misses in-state.

Finally Alabama finished with 11 top 100 commits and 25 top 247 commits. Dear god.

I shouldn't dignify people like you with a response but I'll bite and answer your question, not at all. What sucks is watching OSU kick our ass every year.

FTR Michigan signed a really good class this year. Was it great? I wouldn't characterize it as such. 14 three star commits is too many especially when you consider the fact that only 6% of three stars ever make it to the NFL. Missing on all four top 100 players in the state of Michigan including two five stars is unacceptable. However Harbaugh modernized the offense and added three great recruiters to his staff this offseason, so I'd say all in all things are looking up.

Everyone needs to understand that!  Clemson recruits just as well as Michigan does, sometimes worse, and is right there with Bama at the end of the year every year.  Stars do matter, but the most important thing is coaching and getting the most out of the recruits you get.  You don't NEED to recruit like Bama to beat Bama.  You can get close and just out-coach/out-scheme them or win a few key battles (turnovers from Bama this year in the championship).

Clemson's Class Ranking in the last 7 years (UM in parenthesis):

2019: 9 (7)

2018: 7 (22)

2017: 16 (5)

2016: 11 (8)

2015: 9 (37 (Harbaugh Transition Year))

2014: 16 (20)

2013: 15 (4)

Unfortunately yes, it hasn't been as good as it should be.  But I'm thinking more about scheme on game day instead of overall player development.  The players are good at what they do but they need to be put in the best position to succeed more consistently.

In what way was Logan Brown a miss? He always wanted to go to UW and he went to UW.  What would you have had the staff do? Quote from Brown: “I wanted to commit to Wisconsin my freshman year" but his parents made him wait it out and go through the process. The fact that the staff made a game of it and even got some crystal balls here was impressive. Meanwhile they brought in 6 O-Linemen, with a couple of great tackle prospects.

Cool story, I've heard a million of these throughout the years following recruiting and many times they have different endings. Just ask LaMarr Woodley who was a MSU lock for 4 years until he wasn't. It's called recruiting. Logan Brown being a miss and UM signing a good OL class is not mutually exclusive.

All the star gazers bitch about not being able to win the national championship without all 5* recruits.  Yet our recruiting rankings have been comparable to or better than Clemson the last 5-6 years (except 2015).

The jury is out on the new coaches (I'm optimistic), but I think we'll have a helluva team next year.

A couple things re Clemson and how they differ from Michigan:

1) They play in a basketball conference where they significantly out-recruit everyone they play sans FSU.

2) They run a modern offensive and defensive scheme.

3) They have some of the lowest attrition rates in the country. Guys like Drew Singleton, James Hudson, Aubrey Solomon, Devin Asiasi aren't leaving their program early.

4) Their highest rated recruits are clustered at the most important positions in college football (QB, DL, skill positions). Our 2017 WR class was great but Clemson does that every year. They wouldn't even look at a guy like Kent or Bell. They've also recruited QB so well they are having 5 star QB's transfer out because they can't get on the field. Their DL recruiting speaks for itself.

5) They've had 3 assistant coaching changes since Dabo has been there. Absurd continuity.

Clemson and Michigan have both brought in top QB's (Ruddock, Patterson, McCaffrey, Peters, McNamara, etc); Clemson and Michigan have been bringing in really good DL players; Clemson and Michigan have recruited quite well at the WR position.  Michigan out-recruits everybody in a football conference sans OSU.  Michigan runs modern offensive and defensive schemes (even if you don't like them, they are thoroughly modern and NFL-like).  Clemson recruits plenty of 3* kids, just like Kent and Bell.

Clemson has been doing this for several more years, and has built themselves into a pretty good team.  Michigan is still in that process.  But you, Maizen, you have sucked for years.  And you continue to suck as a person, as a poster, and as a fan.

Clemson is signing 5 star talents at QB like Deshaun Watson, Hunter Johnson, Trevor Lawrence (#1 overall), and DJ Uiagalelei (#1 overall). Michigan hasn't signed a top 100 QB since Brandon Peters (which was a mistake taking him over Patterson). We haven't signed a top 247 QB since McCaffrey. But sure, same thing as Clemson.

Michigan recruited WR well in 2017. Clemson recruits WR like that every year. This year they signed top 50 guys Frank Ladson and Joe Ngata. Last year it was Justyn Ross and Deion Kendrick. They year before that it was Tee Higgins and Amari Rodgers. Michigan isn't close to that level of recruiting at WR on a year after year basis.

Michigan does not run a modern offensive scheme, that's why Harbaugh hired Josh Gattis this offseason and gave him full control of the offense to change that. On defense we play one coverage, cover 1. That works against lesser teams because we can out athlete them, but anytime we play a team with comparable talent we get sliced and diced. Did you watch the AFC championship game? Brady knew exactly where to go with the ball before the snap because KC only plays cover 1. They were last in the NFL in total defense this year. Dwayne Haskins carved us up because we showed him the same look over and over and over and never made him read a coverage. That's not modern defense. Meanwhile Clemson runs multiple coverages and schemes, but sure it's the same thing.

Michigan brings in good DL? We've certainly landed some like Gary, Hinton, and Smith but that's really been it. Aubrey Solomon (gone), Corey Malone Hatcher (gone), Deron Irving Bey (gone), Phil Paea (OL), James Hudson (gone), Ron Johnson (lol). Oh wait you think Kwity Paye and Mike Dwumfour are Clemson level? LOL. Next year's DL at Michigan is going to be average at best.

But sure bitch about me or maizen or anyone else who thinks like me because, uh, it makes you feel better about the fact we haven't won a B1G title in 15 years and are 2 for our last 18 against OSU. That's what sucks.

Let me get this straight:

They have some of the lowest attrition rates in the country. Guys like Drew Singleton, James Hudson, Aubrey Solomon, Devin Asiasi aren't leaving their program early.

And also:

They've also recruited QB so well they are having 5 star QB's transfer out because they can't get on the field.

So they don't have top talent transfer out, except when they do. Got it.

No, you don't "got it." Having low attrition rates and having zero attrition aren't the same thing. Furthermore in the case of Hunter Johnson he was playing a position where only one guy can play at a time and he was replaced by the #1 overall recruit in the country. That's not the same thing as guys like Asiasi, Hudson, Singleton, and Solomon transferring. It's amazing this needs to be explained.

Fantastic news!

It's a shame we were unable to get his brother.  Do we ever win battles against Stanford?

Also, when do the 2020 5* WR's start committing?  Time for the Gattis effort to go overdrive.
