You obviously haven't watched Wisconsin basketball for the past 20 years.   They are almost always a "vastly inferior talent" team that still performs well in the B1G.

This team is as Wisconsin as it gets.  One stud.  A bunch of scrappy, defensively responsible role players.   They were also hungry after a road loss to Maryland and playing the #2 team.  Wisconsin absolutely needed this game to stay relevant.   And playing in Madison is equivalent to getting a root canal and digital rectal exam simultaneously.

But go ahead and hit that panic button.

EDIT:  This is supposed to be in response to tFerrisState's comment about Wisconsin's supposed vastly inferior talent.

You must have a word quota to meet every day. Panic? No. Calling out an over exaggeration has nothing to do with panic. Wisconsin played better than Michigan today and losses happen. Also, I, in fact, have watched enough Wisconsin basketball during the last 20 years to understand the point you are making. I get it, they overachieve seemingly every year, but saying they are "vastly" inferior is just ridiculous. Before last season, Wisconsin had made the NCAA Tournament 19 straight times. Back to back Final Four appearances in 2014 and 2015. A National Title game loss in 2015. Programs don't compete at the national level year in and year out with "vastly" inferior talent.

Crap.  Sorry, Yeti.  I intended to respond directly to tFerrisState.  In fact, I was piggybacking on your response of tFerrisState's comment regarding vastly inferior talent.   But it appears as if I was tongue-lashing you instead.

I agree 100% with your sentiments.

This one is simple:   I don't care if you're 17-0 coming in, if you're Michigan basketball, and you go on the road against a solid Big Ten team...

40.7 % from the field, 27.8 % from 3, and 45.5% from the FT line are NOT going to get it done.  Those are losing numbers and you have to play better to win on the road in the Big Ten.  You are never going to get the calls on the road (17 to 11).

But seriously Wisconsin, for fucks sake, storming the court?   Act like you've been there before.

I was at the game.   It did eventually turn into a student section storm the court scene.   But the student section was probably a little light for today's game since Wisconsin still hasn't started their next academic semester, so your "small storm" description is still apt.

I hate the Kohl Center.   I swear that I'll never go back again, but I always do.   I just replay the Stauskas dagger from a few years ago to bring back rare sweet memories at that vapid venue.

One game.  Not gonna cry or say stupid things about the team.  Obviously didn't play well.  Love anytime Poole has the ball.  Feel the opposite when Matthews does.  Wish everyone played as hard as Teske.  This team can be even better when Livers and Izzy take the next step.

Was a great win streak.  Almost glad it's over.  Coach B will have them ready for March.

I think we’re overrated.  We haven’t played well since Purdue, over a month ago.

Iggy & Matthews really bad.  Maybe time to get Livers in the starting lineup.

Matthews better make other plans because he has zero chance of playing in the NBA.

Madison is a difficult place to play and Happ did whatever he wanted to do in the paint.  Wisconsin played very good perimeter defense and we couldn’t shoot 3’s.  Bad game but not any kind of a game to worry about going forward.

No upper classman leadership in that game.  No one is NBA ready. Not even close.  We needed this to improve. So no worries?

"We needed this to improve"

What in the hell does this actually mean?  Seriously.  I want to know.   I'm genuinely interested in how this string of words pertains to anything related to Michigan basketball.   We needed this to improve?   WHAT DOES THIS MEAN?

Also, I saw Simpson make some clutch defensive plays and baskets that kept us in this game.   I saw Teske nail 2 three pointers, run the floor hard multiple times to get buckets or draw fouls on fast breaks, and make Happ work exceedingly hard for his points, including a lot of misses near the rim.   Both are upper classmen.   I saw a team that played a sub-standard offensive game only 3 points down with a minute left in a stadium that has caused nothing but ill feelings over the past 15 years.    Yeah.  That was a rudderless game.

I came here for the ridiculous overreaction to our first loss and am not disappointed.

Jesus H. Christ on a stick, some of you people.

I don't think it's an overreaction at all.

This team got off to a fast start but for the past month they've been well pretty bad at times.

It's not like we played one bad game and lost.  We've played several bad games and won too.

This team deserves a top 10 ranking, but we shouldn't be in the conversation for #1.

"I don't think it's an overreaction at all."

LOL

"Just like the football team, can’t perform on the road."

Trying to slop our football program's road woes onto John Beilein's program—especially after a 17-0 start in the season immediately following our second appearance in the NC game—is the epitome of over-reactive horseshit.

Don, I don't want to rain on your parade, but this team is not playing good basketball right now, nor have they been since Purdue, which was 7 weeks ago. I think you're just looking at our record and assuming everything is fine. If we played the Top 10 teams on a neutral court right now, it would not be pretty.

This is not the same team that played great the first month.  They've regressed.

Plenty of time to get it together, but 16 turnovers, are you kidding me?  That's just piss poor.  This team is overrated.  We look more like a Top 10-15 team right now.
