OSU drops 4th straight Friday night POSBANG
The former #1 team in the country (lol) has now lost to MSU, Rutger, Iowa and Maryland to remain winless this year.

Next 3 for them are Purdue, @Nebraska, @Michigan. Lets hope the streak hits 7.
January 19th, 2019 at 12:17 AM ^
I just drank a shitload of bulleit rye and the rye told me to take it to 8
fuck osu, fuck urbs. Maybe Mattison too, he is a good guy but a dickhead for doing that. more rye please
January 18th, 2019 at 8:28 PM ^
Lose all the games!
January 18th, 2019 at 8:32 PM ^
Them beating Maryland would have actually been nice...Maryland is 7-1 in conference, would have given us a cushion if we lose tomorrow.
Maryland is @MSU on Monday.
January 18th, 2019 at 8:41 PM ^
I agree. I mean, I never root for OSU in anything, but Michigan would have benefitted more from a Maryland loss here.
Don't be Staee.
January 18th, 2019 at 8:58 PM ^
Why are you worried about UM backing in to something? Just win baby.
January 18th, 2019 at 9:22 PM ^
Because it's unreasonable to expect perfection. Nobody's had a perfect basketball season in 40 years. I'd just as soon the teams closest to Michigan fail in order to make the (nearly) inevitable misstep less costly.
January 18th, 2019 at 9:25 PM ^
Seriously, Wisconsin isn’t great
January 19th, 2019 at 6:04 AM ^
did I read the stats right where Happ is only a fifty or sixty percent free throw shooter?
January 19th, 2019 at 10:51 AM ^
49%...not good.
January 18th, 2019 at 9:42 PM ^
Same reason anyone with any knowledge hoped osu football would lose before we played them. I'd rather back into a championship than not have a chance at all.
January 18th, 2019 at 10:15 PM ^
While I agree with you, most on this blog failed your “knowledge test” and were rooting for OSU v Maryland.
January 18th, 2019 at 10:42 PM ^
I never understood that thinking. Let's see, you can choose between a guaranteed trip to the Big Ten title game and can play a demoralized, season-over OSU team, or you can have nothing guaranteed and have everything on the line against an OSU team which also has everything to play for and is at home?
January 18th, 2019 at 8:49 PM ^
Ya, but whatever. Lots of games yet to be played yet. Enjoy the tears and angst in Columbus.
January 18th, 2019 at 10:18 PM ^
Just worry about us. The rest will play out
January 19th, 2019 at 3:34 AM ^
While I generally agree, I want to point out the obvious: the "just worry about us" approach didn't work out well for us in football. (Of course, fans don't have an impact on games so that's something else entirely.)
If Maryland had converted on the 2 point attempt, Michigan was guaranteed a berth in the Big Ten Championship Game regardless of what happened in The Game.
Even if we had lost in the 2018 Game (in that scenario), we could've at least salvaged the season with a win over Northwestern for our first Big Ten Championship in football since 2004 and a trip to the Rose Bowl against Washington.
January 18th, 2019 at 8:32 PM ^
Tell me when they do this in football, now that's a REAL POSBANG!!!
January 18th, 2019 at 8:35 PM ^
When were they the #1 team in the country?
January 18th, 2019 at 8:40 PM ^
In the initial NET rankings. They... weren't good.
January 18th, 2019 at 8:41 PM ^
The initial NET rankings I believe.
January 18th, 2019 at 9:39 PM ^
Yeah, I was wondering the same... when were they #1?
January 19th, 2019 at 9:31 AM ^
I think the OP only mentioned they were #1 as a joke. While they did come in #1 but only only the 1st ranking and only in the NET (Torv/KP/AP had them in the teens I think), the first NET rankings were so wrong that nate silver actually tweeted out how ludicrous he thought it was that OSU was #1.
January 18th, 2019 at 8:43 PM ^
I mean it was better for us if they had won but fuck Ohio state. NIT NIT!
January 18th, 2019 at 8:55 PM ^
Do I hear 5 ?!
January 18th, 2019 at 9:56 PM ^
I'll go 6. Do we have a 7?
January 18th, 2019 at 8:59 PM ^
I will drop this in here. If any of you are still defending Greg Mattison’s move to OSU it is time to stop defending him. He was recently in a bar (San Antonio) with OSU coaches mocking Michigan by yelling “Go Blue” whenever they could while having a few beverages. This has been confirmed by many and most recently by Rivals. So, if you saw my previous posts regarding him you will know why I said F U Mattison!
Oh, by the way, this is the second time he has screwed us. He was offered more money to stay. He was bitching over his role at Michigan and feeling under-appreciated and felt like he had a diminished role. He has turned on us very quickly. All I know is that he is a Buckeye now and fits right in with the assholes. It is time to win and shut them up.
January 18th, 2019 at 9:05 PM ^
Seriously?! Da Faq is his problem?!
January 18th, 2019 at 9:07 PM ^
I think he is misinterpreting the beers list
January 18th, 2019 at 9:12 PM ^
Whatever. He’s been replaced with a younger, hopefully better model.
With any luck, he won’t be missed.
January 18th, 2019 at 9:22 PM ^
Well fuck him then
January 18th, 2019 at 9:23 PM ^
Mattison’s dead to me, fuck him and fuck OSU.
January 20th, 2019 at 1:46 PM ^
Necrophilia is illegal tho.
January 18th, 2019 at 9:34 PM ^
Very petty of him. Shame.
January 18th, 2019 at 9:41 PM ^
Wow... just wow. Don’t know whether to scream, “You frickin SOB”, or to be just saddened by the state of college football.
January 18th, 2019 at 9:47 PM ^
The key in the post is win. We have to beat them this November. Harbaugh vs Ryan fucking day. If it can’t happen this year it will never happen! Go Blue! Beat the badgers!
January 18th, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
Time to just ignore him.
January 18th, 2019 at 10:14 PM ^
Mattison walked out on his colleagues and players, who are all supposed to be like family, directly to our most hated rival. It doesn’t get much worse. He has zero character and nobody should ever trust a man like that.
He gave up a lifetime of being revered in the state of Michigan to likely being an afterthought in Ohio after a few years. I hope he fails miserably and Michigan gets his sorry ass fired.
January 19th, 2019 at 2:56 AM ^
I say we drop 70 on his ass.
January 18th, 2019 at 10:03 PM ^
Greg who??? Another boren traitor like justin and his turncoat asshole father mike boren - who played for Bo when he was a Michigan Man. How fitting is it that those pieces of trash now deal in trash 24/7!
January 18th, 2019 at 10:03 PM ^
Wow....if true, what a classless douchebag. Some respect for a place where you brought young men and coached them, and were paid quite well at a minimum. You reap what you sow — thinking the staff and team are looking forward to his return to Ann Arbor.
January 18th, 2019 at 10:57 PM ^
If this is the thing to light a fire and flip the rivalry, I'll take it. Hated the guy after he ran off Pryce and Bowens, then bolted for ND. That hate thawed a bit, but never fully defrosted his second time here.
January 18th, 2019 at 11:35 PM ^
Glad you remembered that. Remember Mike Elston? He didn’t get a fifth year either! Yeah, he coaches ND now and hasn’t ever been offered a job at UM. Coincidence?
January 19th, 2019 at 8:51 AM ^
I like the new/current staff and I have faith in Coach Harbaugh however . . .
how do you justify replacing Mattison with Durkin as DC? Mattison's defenses were some of the best in the country. Those embarassing big plays the defense gave up almost always came after consecutive (quadruple in one case) 3-and-outs by the QB less Hoke offenses. Defensive stats also suffered from multiple 3-and-outs by the offense.
I cannot explain and will not support the move to OSU but maybe Mattison predicted the year-end collapses based on recruiting, talent development (lack there of in the blowouts), scheme and play calling. The previous move to ND was also a disappointment.
I am asking because I have no inside information. Mattison is rational. Something happened.
January 20th, 2019 at 12:01 AM ^
I don’t have any inside information either, but I’d guess that Harbaugh wanted to bring his guys in to run the show. He may have felt some obligation to Mattison due to family loyalty/recognizing that he is a good coach. Durkin took that same talent and made a top 20 D into a top 10. Brown took that top 10 and turned it to a top 5.
There was nothing special going on. Mattison was solid, but Harbaugh could get better, so he did.
I think it’s kinda cool that this is one of the few coaching changes that pisses Michigan fans off as much as OSU fans

Understood but no one has a top 10 defense when the offense can't hold onto the ball. I saw no improvement under Durkin that couldn't be attributed to the offense generating first downs. While the offense is gaining first downs, the defensive coaches can actually coach, as in tell the players what to look for on the next set of downs.
2014 S&P Defense #13 Offense #89
2015 S&P Defense #3 Offense #38
While #1 is a nice goal, I would stand with the system that got me #13 given the deficient offense.
I stand with my observation, Mattison appears better than Durkin.

Yes, he did have a diminished role... one that he agreed to when Harbaugh was hired. Fours year later and it's a problem? I hope he beefs it royally and becomes hated by both sides. How to trash your legacy: 101
